worms and beetles escape easily
Was excited about it when I saw it and when I got it. Husband and I put it together rather quickly. As with other review - the worms and beetles escape and they also fall through the mesh to the next level and there isn't a solid bottom level, so those eventually fall on on the floor. We kept ours in the garage, so luckily, we did not have the misfortune of beetles and worms in our home!! I never write reviews on anything, but this one was a true disappointment, waste of money, waste of time. You are better off doing the do-it-yourself method with SECURE plastic bins.

Easy to use but a little rickety
This is a si old, self explanatory meal worm farm. It is slightly unstable when it stacks and the black plastic track that is in two pieces can be a surprising albeit mild annoyance when it doesn’t want to stay in place as you maintain your farm.

A nice simple solution to raising darkling beetles and mealworms
I was given my first kit for my birthday in February this year and I've since bought another one. It has make the process so much easier.I accidentally started raising mealworms last October after the breast cancer diagnosis........the worms I had bought turned into pupa and then there were beetles too. I tried the screen method in the bottom of a drawer which failed miserably. Seven months later I have 10 containers of mealworms and two 'nursery bins' that will give me another 4 containers of baby worms. Every month I am able to harvest new mealworm babies in roughly the same amount. This set up was so easy to use and it has made the task into something fun to do. I love feeding the bluebirds live mealworms and I just couldn't go back to buying them now. Thank you for such a useful and reasonably priced Beetle House Kit/Mealworm raising kit.

Don't buy this junk
The bottom is not connected. I poured 2100 mealworms and bedding in and it poured through to the floor. Mealworms everywhere in shag carpet. I returned it and has to repeatedly require my refund going on 2 weeks. Sellers were most horrible people I've ever dealt with

$90 for a kit that doesn't even stop worms from falling through
Every stack has a mesh bottom. They give you plastic squares to act as a bottom. Not a single one has a real bottom (to use for the absolute bottom stack) so literally there are worms dropping from my second layer to the bottom layer (both with the plastic square "bottom" installed) and then through the bottom onto the floor because the plastic squares provided aren't even flat they're kind of warped. The instruction that comes with it says you should use tape to secure it. They say they do this to make cleaning it easier *eyeroll*. Cool. Would have been great to read that somewhere in the item description before purchasing. For $90 this feels like a *giant* rip off if I'm being completely honest.

Useful but expensive.
It's definitely useful bit I wouldn't spend 90 on another one. If they were cheaper I would definitely buy more, but probably wouldn't use the way as instructed. They work fine for beetle and pupae housing into a larger bin for frass and eggs to fall. The work to make it work the way it's supposed to isn't worth the trouble and is too messy unless you have the patience and room for a proper set up.if it was around 50 bucks id consider buying more, or if I could buy each stage separately.

Great purchase for raising mealworms
I researched many DIY options for raising mealworms and decided to try this product. I like that the trays are stacked and not open and I like the depth of each tray. Much taller than the craft drawers and more durable than using the sterilite clear bins. The design provides the dark environment the worms prefer without adding any covers.I have learned that using regular blue painters tape is not a good idea in a bin where you plan to raise the worms. They chowed down on the tape. The trays with beetles and pupa did not have this issue but I am now using much more durable tape to secure the insert bottoms. I have also added holes to improve air circulation for the drawers that are stacked under the two top drawers. I don’t know if that was necessary but I was worried about sufficient airflow.I cannot confirm the effectiveness of the grate design that you use for the beetle tray. DIY designs use a metal mesh which is more open than the plastic grate provided with this kit. I have yet to have any eggs hatch in the tray below them but suspect this could be due to the dry air in my home/region more than issues with eggs falling through the plastic. But it is a watch item for me.Overall I am very pleased with this purchase. And hopeful that I will develop a healthy farm to support our chickens. I want to also mention the great customer service I received which is rare these days.

The absolute worst! DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT
I've waited 6 months to review this to make sure I was using it properly and that it was really as bad as it seemed to be. It's actually worse than it seemed to be. It makes no sense to have three layers when you can only use two of them. Furthermore, in the 6 months I've had it I have yet to have any kind of mealworms hatch. This product is so bad it should not even be available on Amazon.Quite frankly I wouldn't even use this product it was free it's completely useless
