Prodyne BOWL, ICED Salad-4 Qt, Off-white

I wish you cold hold more ice in this. I've thought about trying to freeze water in it, but haven't tried. It did work perfectly though. I used it for 1 afternoon event in a warm area and it did the trick and looked very pretty on the table. Will use again for family events.

This thing is beautiful! I'm so excited to use it for the holiday parties. It seems sturdy so hope it holds up.

This kept the food nice and cold and it looks very nice too. Good quality. Was a little pricey but when it comes to serving food that needs to be cold, it’s a great server.

The media could not be loaded. This just made my day. Very beautiful and just what I was expecting. Not big and not smaller than what I thought it would. I would have loved a bigger one but just me this is perfect for my home salad or fruit bowl. Buy it if you like nice and classy things

Next time you want to take a cold dish to a get together, consider taking it in this attractive, functional bowl and then leave it for the hostess or host.

We've been looking for this type of item for awhile to keep our bed-and-breakfast fruit salad chilled. It keeps it chilled fairly well and it keeps the local Health Department happy. Just put a bit MORE ice in the bowl and set the stainless steel bowl on top so it rises above the lip a half inch or so. Over time, it will settle into the ice. If you put the "perfect" amount of ice in at the start, it will likely melt TOO far down to be of use. We use a stainless steel serving ladle/spoon, not the plastic one it comes with. The bowl and lid are apparently a polystyrene type of clear plastic, so we refrain from using our high-temp commercial dish machines (read...I'm melting!). It may scratch easily...so treat it gently. I wish it were acrylic....but alas....3/25/13 Be sure that you (or your "helpful" staff) only rinse and wipe this item. I discovered a well-meaning attempt at washing this with a scrubby. After discovering the scour-mark "haze" on the bowl last week, and subsequently grumbling to myself, I remembered that this unit is polystyrene plastic. As a softer plastic, it CAN be buffed out. So, just grab a DRY terry towel, roll up your sleeves, apply firm pressure, and buff like a madman (or madwoman, whichever shoe fits). It returned to ALMOST new condition. By the way, take a black "sharp marking pen" and write on the bottom in reverse letters so it can be read from the top "HAND RINSE ONLY/NO SCRUB". Good luck! Still working great though!

After a bit of research, I just ordered 2 of these bowls. I couldn't exactly rate it yet because I haven't yet received them, but I am so excited to have found this. I am presenting my dissertation oral defense next month and I am creating a yogurt bar. I needed something to keep the fruit and yogurt cold. So, I ordered the chilled condiment server and two of these.If you are researching the units, as I recently was, it was difficult to tell if the bowl is just made for salad (or items that won't spill or leak onto the ice below). I had to view photos of the item multiple times and read reviews to realize that this was the item I needed.It may have been better if they would have called these bowls, "Prodyne IC-30 Iced BOWL (rather than SALAD) with Dome Lid" because there are others of these types of chiller bowls that are vented at the bottom especially for salads, which could not be used for potato salad, yogurt or other liquidy foods. It took me a very long time to determine what I needed.For those wondering, yes, this one apparently may be used for any type of dish, whether it is a liquidy consistency or not.I entertain a lot and have looked for something similar. I can hardly wait to get them. I know they will be used a lot!
