Q: How are the slices removed?

1.slice the top off2. match the center hole with center of pineapple3. start spinning till you hit the bottom4. hold onto the outside of the pineapple and pull the entire pineapple insides out- I usually twist it, then it comes out easier (sometimes it gets difficult, but nothing major)5. pull the hollowed `shell' to the side6. take the handle off the slicer7. if you want pineapple wedges, get the included wedger, push it down onto the silver cylinderall the way to the bottom.

The handle is made of premium plastic, and the connection method is similar as Card buckle; please refer the product discreption for the detail with pictures.

Q: Is the part of the plastic material of this item BPA free?

Don't know if either piece is BPA free, but handle doesn't come in contact with food and I use a knife to cut the pineapple rings into pieces and tossed the plastic ring.

Q: Looks as though you throw away about 30-40% of edible pineapple, just to have a no fuss experience?

Not really as you will notice when you remove the rind with a knife alot on pineapple is cut away with it. You also have the layer under the rind that has the seeds which has to be removed. You find after using this tool that it removes the meat of the pineapple and only leaves behind what you would cut away with a knife anyway. Plus this cuts it into perfect rings while reducing the time wasted and mess created when using a knife or cleaver.

Husband loves it for cutting up pineapple!! Daughter loves the size of the slices. She says daddy usually cuts them too small and the slice cuts them the right size. It works perfectly although he feels it wastes a little bit of the pineapple along the walls. It cores perfectly and saves him time when he's prepping her school lunches.

I wasn't sure if this actually work, but it does! And it is Awesome! IMO this is the best way to cut fresh pineapple. Easy to use, easy to clean. Very sturdy.

Easy to use

Easy to use. Good for medium sized pineapples.If you have a large pineapple, it would be such a waste because the size of the blade is only one size. It will leave you an extra inch good pineapple going to the trash.Cleaning can be hard since fibers get stucked between the gaps. Quality is cheap.
