Folding Proofer & Slow Cooker (Proofer)

Arrived on time. Set up was very easy. I noticed a very small chip on he heat pad, broken from the cover. I took pictures, contacted Brod and Taylor. They immediately sent me another cover, stating they believe in quality control. Customer service was exemplary!!! New cover arrived quickly. The control is on the base of he unit, which I love. Electronic controls, set to 80 degrees and immediately I feel the bottom warming up. I love everything about this!!! I set my dish inside to warm up while mixing my sourdough. Placed my sourdough in my Brod and Taylor bread proofer for each part of the process. Excellent!!!! So then I tried making 2 recipes!!! Found 2 dishes that fit nicely inside. It performed beautifully!!!! Quality of the unit is excellent!!! I tried one of those cloth ones and it didn’t work from the moment I plugged it in. This Brod & Taylor bread proffer cleans nicely, quality unit. It make making sourdough enjoyable!!! If I could give the Brod & Taylor bread proofer and their customer service 10 stars I would!!! I also have their Danish whisk & love that as well!!! This bread proofer is also a slow cooker, but I haven’t used that yet. The rack inside the proofer is quality!!!! Price wise, it’s a little more expensive but my bread rising quicker so I can finish faster….I am worth it and luckily my husband thinks so too (he loves sourdough bread!!!!).

This is my second Brod & Taylor purchase and both have been top quality. This is a lightweight proofer that works perfectly right out of the box. It is big enough for multiple loaves of bread. It gets warm very fast and holds the temperature. But, the very best part is that is folds flat for storage. I love that. I don't have a big kitchen so very much appreciate this beautiful and collapsible proofer.

Oh, my goodness! How did I ever live without this proofer? I looked at this proofer for months before taking the leap and bought it. If you're doing the same, I urge you to just take the plunge and order it! I do a lot of baking, especially breads. I keep my sourdough starter in this proofer all the time, and it's so happy! And, of course, I use it for proofing my bread doughs. Dough temperature is as important to the process as any ingredient, I think, and I love that I can adjust the temperature to my needs, as well as the bread's needs. For example, I can bump the temperature up a degree or two, to speed up proofing, if I'm in a hurry, or drop the temperature if I want a slower fermentation for more complex flavor. My results are so much more consistent, with this proofer. I can adjust the temperature for each individual recipe, if I wish. This proofer may seem like an expensive luxury, but it sure has made a huge difference in my baking, and in my enjoyment of baking. It's surprisingly well designed and useful. I've never used it to make yogurt or as a slow cooker, and I probably never will. But it's worth every penny, just for my breads. I love that it folds so flat for storage, although I will probably never take it off my kitchen counter, because it's in use all the time!

We've been making bread for a long time, and this proofer was a game changer. The Proofer arrived very securely packed. Included were very complete instructions, an offer to register and get three years warranty coverage, and a very nice recipe book. I unpacked the Proofer, read the manual and per the instructions, set it up for bread making, which was so easy I felt like I must have missed something, and we started the bread making process right then and there to see how the Proofer would do. Let me say that the bread that came out of the oven was the best we'd ever made. All we could say was; WOW! it was a new and very enjoyable experience not to have to cover the bread pans with plastic wrap, and letting the water in the tray provide humidity instead, which is much better for the bread dough. To be able to look through the window on top of the Proofer to see the dough rising was a new and great experience, which also made it much easier to know when to take it out of the Proofer, and put it in the oven. Set up, operation, and take down were very very simple and easy. This is a very quality built appliance, and is a must-have for our bread making. The engineering and thought that went into this Proofer is remarkable and commendable, and very much appreciated. I've read some reviews that mentioned the cost, inferring it was a bit expensive. Our feeling is that it is worth every penny and more. As stated before, this is a fine, high quality appliance and meets the highest standards of quality build, spot-on performance, and operational ease, and great results. In short; we absolutely love this Brod & Taylor Folding Proofer & Slow Cooker, and are looking forward to trying some of it's other culinary capabilities. My bread dough has never had it so good! I bake whole grain and gluten free loaves and was having a devil of a time with my sourdough loaves rising on the counter or in the oven…couldn’t seem to find that happy spot. With this proofed, not only has proofing time been significantly reduced but the rise is even and consistent every time. It’s a simple box product but the ability to set the temp and adjust based on your home conditions or type of loaf you are baking has made all the difference for me. I initially didn’t want to pay that much but as a regular baker, I am now so glad I did! I haven’t tried the slow-cooker function on it but my guess is if I followed the instructions the food would turn out well. It is a lightweight easy to clean device that works as described and should last a long time with a bit of care.

I love this folding proofer. Our house is typically cool, maybe too cool... and it was hard to keep my dough at an even temperature to proof. I used to put a towel under the bowl, then around the sides and over the top. No fun.. you couldn't peak at it!! This works perfectly, AND.... I made the most delicious bbq in it using it as a slow cooker. I use cast iron dutch ovens, and love that you can put it right in the proofer and make anything you normally would make in your dutch oven!! I lack counter space, so love that it folds up. It's sleek looking and I'm very impressed all round with this product. I would highly recommend. It was shipped very fast and packaged well. I ordered the second rack with it and have used that to proof 2 pans of buns. Awesome addition to my cooking tools.

Meine Frau backt leidenschaftlich gerne Sauerteigbrot. Allerdings hat sie nicht immer Zeit, die Teige regelmäßig zu führen, was diesen im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes etwas sauer aufstößt. Auch bei der Gärung hatte sie bislang immer wieder Probleme, weil eine klare Temperaturführung in der Nähe der Heizung nicht möglich ist. Also kam die Gärkiste von Brod and Taylor ins Haus. Ausschlaggebend dafür war unter anderem, dass sie klappbar ist. Wie viele koch- und backbegeisterten Menschen hat auch meine Frau einen beeindruckenden Maschinenpark und viiiiel zu wenig Platz in der Küche. Zwar gibt es auch Wärmeplatten mit Taschenaufbau, aber wir bevorzugen dann doch stabilere Lösungen. Der Aufbau des Geräts ist sehr einfach. Wer eine Klappkiste aufstellen kann, ist auch in der Lage, die Gärkiste aufzubauen. Neben einer Anleitung liegt auch ein kleines Rezeptheft bei. Neben einem Gitter findet sich auch eine kleine Wanne, um Wasser für feuchte Gärung einfüllen zu können. Da die Kiste selbst nicht großartig isoliert ist, waren wir erst etwas skeptisch. Die zwei Sauerteige meiner Frau hatten leider schon etwas längere Zeit geruht und mussten dementsprechend erst wieder aufgepäppelt werden. Nach kurzer Experimentierphase hatte meine Frau dann die richtigen Einstellungen gefunden und war absolut begeistert. Nach einiger Zeit hatte sie die Sauerteige dann wieder so weit, dass sie Brot backen konnte, was wiederum mich begeisterte, weil die Ergebnisse deutlich besser waren, als vorher. Wer mit Sauerteig backt weiß, dass das eine Kunst für sich ist, weil man mit etwas Lebendigem zu tun hat. Umso wichtiger ist es, in allen Teilschritten die komplette Kontrolle - gerade über die Temperatur - zu haben. Und das funktioniert mit der Gärkiste hervorragend. Meine Frau ist glücklich und wenn sie glücklich ist, bin ich auch glücklich. Zumal ich jetzt auch jede Menge noch besseres Brot bekomme :-) Für Menschen, die sich halbwegs ernsthaft mit dem Backen von Sauerteigbrot befassen, ist dieses Gerät von unserer Seite eine klare Empfehlung

I used the Brod & Taylor as Proofer and I like that it can also create humidity so that there is no need to cover when using water tray. I also like that it can be folded back up and placed back in box and then can go back on shelf when not in use.

This is an excellent appliance. I used the Brod Taylor sourdough-house to make my sourdough starter initially and use this proofing oven, set to 23C, to proof my sourdough prior to making bread, pizza and naan bread. I have great starter so proofing only takes about 10 to 12 hours. The proofing oven make the wholes fermentation process fool proof and I use it frequently before baking bread and in between times to ferment kefir. Size is excellent, there's enough room for a large bowl (1kg bread) or three to four rectangular bread baking tins of dough.
