A fantastic product with some hidden benefits!
My Logitech Cordless Desktop MX5500 showed up today and it's fantastic! The Keyboard: The keys on the board feel very comfortable and the whole design is friendly and easy to get used to. I'm already hitting the volume and media controls by feel. They keys themselves are well spaced and raised so they have a nice solid impact when you touch them, but there is no click or "tak" sound at all when the keys are pressed, only a low, deep thump which is rather strange at first, but easy to get used to.The on-board display is large and easy to read, though I wish it had a back-light. I like the inclusion of a calculator on the keyboard itself, because it's usually when my computer is off when I need to use a calculator and don't have one handy, so that's nice. I'm also really happy with the ease of setting up the keyboard.Mouse: I love this mouse, the moment I put my hand on it to I knew it was the perfect mouse for me. The top curvature fits perfectly in my hand and the buttons are very responsive. There are two wheels on this mouse, the top one is the standard wheel and it has a nice feel and is very responsive, though the left and right scroll (activated by pushing the wheel left or right) is not as easy as on a mouse with a completely rubberized wheel. But that doesn't matter much to me, because it's a feature I really don't use that much. There's also a nice little button on top of the mouse that automatically bring sup your default browser and takes it to a search engine automatically, which is fantastic for me, since I've gone back to school.Software: The SetPoint software is easy to use, so customizing your hot keys on both the keyboard and the mouse is really easy. There's also a context sensitive help, so if your in the mouse menu and want to know what "smart move" is, you can hit the help button and it will bring up a help menu specifically for the page you are on with every entry explained. Very nice!Overall: I'm very happy with this set and would highly recommend it for anyone who uses their computer for more than just games.BlueTooth note: Your going to want to use the bluetooth receiver that comes with the device for solid, dependable connection. I was using my computers internal BlueTooth, but the mouse or keyboard would freeze up at random moments, as the bluetooth included with my HP constantly searches for other devices. You may or may not experience this, but if you do, using the included receiver fixed it in a snap.

Very good...not quite exceptional
I've had a number of good Logitech products and this meets most of what I was looking for in a wireless keyboard and mouse combo. This is a replacement for the exact same keyboard/mouse combo i purchased in 2010. I don't need it yet, but believe these will become harder to find over the next few years as logitech has stopped selling them directly from their website.Up front I dislike wired keyboards and mice, I hate having to move wires or having them snake all over the desk or accidently pulling the connection out. For mice the cord get's tangled, just messing with it is a pain and then ensuring it is with a certain distance to the back of the computer...please.Pros:- Bluetooth connection is solid and doesn't get interferred with/by other devices or phones on 2.4 Ghz, key for gaming.- Standard keys but soft touch and enough extra features to make it useable for nearly any task- Mouse is excellent with plenty of programable buttons.- Like the clock feature, I sometimes forget to check my watch or on the monitor.- Battery life on keyboard is fantasitic and mouse recharges so minimal additional cost.Cons:- Sometimes disconnects itself, maybe a dozen times over 3 years but annoying.(only noticed on start up)- I game alot, keyboard is good but the ASWD keys are getting worn out as time goes on (why i bought a new one)Bottom line: I would buy this keyboard again (and did). I would really like some company to build/design/sell a quality wireless keyboard with a gaming focus but until then this is the best i found. Also I believe the trend is companies are going with cheaper versions of wireless gear, which is sad because as the companies go cheap people get a lower opinion of the wireless items and so lower sales...and then the companies stop making them.
