Essential Soapmaking

More than a book this is a manual. It describes, without any literaure embelishment, from what is soap, how its made, ingedients and their characteristics, cold soap procedures, etc, etc, etc, to how to begin a bussiness, pricing soap, and sales tips. also has a list of suppliers. This is a concise and detailed info book (less than 100 pages) covering most of the panorama of soap. Some things are missing but it will help you swiftly to understand and inmerse you easily into the soap world.

I really enjoy this book. I love the recipes - just the right size batches. I also really appreciate the reference section which has a wealth of information and links to where to purchase supplies.

Never made soap before and this turned out to be a very good buy. Clear concise instructions and information easy to understand. A must for anyone wanting to start making their own.

Pretty cover but the writing is huge and wide spaced- this book is really only a booklet if written in normal format. Way too expensive for what you get. There are MUCH better books out there.

Wonderful book

I received this book (along with Advanced Soap Making: Removing the Mystery) as a Christmas gift since my family knows I like to try making new things. I must say I was a bit nervous about the thought of making soap, by my nerves subsided once I read through the book. What I particularly like about the book is it give you many options. The book sets you up for success by giving you many tips on what to avoid. It also provides good troubleshooting so that you can continuously improve as you make more and more batches. I am a detail person who likes to follow recipes and this book offers someone like me that level of detail. Essential Soap Making really provides a nice foundation so you know what to do and do it safely. Advanced Soap Making helps me take things to the next level to really start using my creativity to make some great Christmas gifts for next year.

The book also lists in easy-to-read format the herbs, oils and other natural ingredients along with their benefits; helping the soap maker to cater to needs of the family or customers. The safety tips provided removes any apprehension that one might have when using the ingredients. As an added bonus, the authors provide direction for those that may want to start a new business. Everything you need to know about soap making is included in this book. Essential Soapmaking will surely make soap making fun and exciting...I can't wait to get started.
