Great heater
This is my 3rd one in 7 years. They seem to last two years. But it does a great job. Just make sure to unplug it before cleaning the birdbath. If out of the water to long in freezing weather will burn it up.

Great Deicer
These are the best Deicers and keep a 50-100 gal tank from freezing even in single digit temps. They are more cost efficient to run and i really like the slim profile. They seem to last 1-2 winter seasons,so not great longevity, but thats about average with any deicer.

Worked until it didn't
I had the unit for a total of 4 months. It didn't even last for the season. It worked great for the first two months. The third month noticed that the bath was barely open. Fourth month frozen solid. I keep my bath and heater clean. Followed the steps for troubleshooting and it still doesn't work. I hoped it would have lasted longer but.........

water heater for birdbath
works great for my deck bird watering container. just don't let it run dry - then the heater implodes and I had to buy a new one - not it's fault!!

-30 F and no ice
I bought this item for a bird/wildlife pond,,i live in central Wisconsin and it can get very cold here,, i bought a plastic snow saucer that's a little wider then 2 ft across and maybe 3 -4 inches deep in the center of saucer,,i then laid a thin piece of slab wood over the top of the saucer so wildlife could sit on that too,,Ive had the pond an heater in use since November 21,,since I've seen 5 nights of well below zero and the pond stays ice free,,last week I had -29.9 at 7 am and the birds were using it,,Iam more then happy with it,,dont know about longevity so I didnt rate that

The best bird bath heater I've ever used
I've used this for a very long and tough winter in Michigan and this product is amazing. It has kept my largest bird bath heated all winter long for the birds. It's easy to clean, it's durable (has been dropped a lot on hard surfaces), light weight, and easy to move around/adjust within the bird bath itself. Most importantly: I love that when the water runs out this doesn't freeze or crack when it's exposed to the elements for a few days! I've had old bird bath heaters that would crack, short-out, stop working, if they were left exposed outside of water for several days...but not this bad boy! I will be buying a second one for other bird bath next year. GREAT PRODUCT!

In the middle of a winter storm there is often a dove perched on the warm rock looking very satisfied!
This is the second of these warmers I have purchased. The first one is still going strong after 4 winters and just wanted a backup for when it does die. It keeps the water from freezing and doesn't appear to use too much electricity as there is little change in my bill from season to season. It has to be kept submerged or will overheat from trying to warm the cold air. For that reason, it is probably not suitable for very shallow bird baths. The unit is about an inch thick so my suggestion would be no less than 2 inches of water. I put a small rock on top to keep it flat and submerged. In the middle of a winter storm there is often a dove perched on the warm rock looking very satisfied!
