Very good , essential tool for home owner!
I saw a video that stated not to bother if your land is filled with rock . Well , my land is filled with rock and some big boulders , and this auger still work well , even to dig below rock to move it out . Nothing is perfect, but I like this tool for digging . This is a home owners essential tool. I used it for post holes, planting just about anything, and if you have tough dirt to go through, this is the tool.

Hard work, but worth it
We couldn't rent a mechanical auger because we had to dig a hole line up the rails and dig the next hole. So, we bought this manual post hole auger. It worked great. We dug 65 holes with it. Now, we have a nice fence to show for it.

it leaks like a sieve in dry soil
it leaks like a sieve in dry soil. Works well in wet clumpy soil, but not on dry soil.

Great digger.
Best manual post hole digger I've ever seen. Much better than the twin shovels. Digs an 8 inch or wider hole. Put in 7 posts for a fence. Worked great. Took around 30 minutes to dig a 30 inch deep hole. We had lots of rocks and medium packed clay soil. But when you hit the subsoil, it barely makes a dent until you break it up a little with a digging bar.

An Excellent yard tool
I used this post hole digger for installing fence posts. The construction of this digger is of excellent quality and it easily worked through the soil in this area which is a sandy clay material. I would recommend it to anyone that needs a manual auger.

Nice Work
Excellent hole auger. As some have mentioned, rocks can stop you cold but use an old screw driver to pull them out. I dug 4 holes for a play house and the job went smoothly! Best of all, it's made in the U.S!

Been looking for this for some time
Digging holes with the typical two handled hole digger, has always been one of my worst jobs to do. My neighbor, had this "antique" that was an Auger type and supposedly "hand made" that worked to my amazement. Just on a lark, I went to Amazon and searched for a like item only to find this right there! Its Not and antique! Bought it, used it and look forward to using it again... GREAT ITEM!!!! Takes the drudgery out of digging...
