Does it illuminate when performing SMAW stick welding? Tried soapstone, but it vaporizes and diffucult to see.

The line will not illuminate but it's silver line will be easier to see, and does not vaporize until you are over it with your puddle. You may want to use a thick line, depending on the color of the material you are welding.

Where do you reckon this here marking device is made?

Refills made in Japan Holder made in China… But good news, assembled in the good old USA….too bad we can’t make anything anymore.
