Q: can a hot plate be used to melt the wax? or must a wax warmer be used… which is better…thank you

To do it correctly, you’ll need a double pan warmer, that is a pan inside a pan and typically water in between the pans, so the wax isn’t heated directly. Wax will burn at relatively low heat. You can use a hot plate to melt wax, but watch it carefully. Best to put it in the double pan before it completely melts.

Q: I don't understand how you are supposed to clean up the pot?

Leave the pot warm and take a dry paper towel and wipe It out.

Q: Will this work with natural soy wax?

Yes. I use soy and regular wax.

Q: Am I supposed to leave lid on when melting wax?

It will help it melt faster and prevent unwanted debris from falling in.
