IT DOES WORK WITH LIFEPROOF
So I have a gen 2 LIFEPROOF case, and a docking station that I need an extender for. I figured I would try this because it was cheap if it didn't work... But it worked great! I found that it was easier to insert the dock extender in the iPhone w/case then seat it on the dock.... My hubby has an otter box for iPhone 4 and it works fine with his case also. I had an old 3GS in an otter box that also works great! My family all has otter boxes and various thick cases for their iPhones and I loved this so much with constant use after a month that I bought 5 more to give as a gift to my fam who has the dock station too. I've never had a problem with it charging but my hubby noticed if it was hooked up you didn't hear notification tones? Maybe that has more to do with the dock itself. At any rate, I've had no problems. Don't know why ppl have said it doesn't fit their LIFEPROOF case...

Great product, slow shipping.
The product was exactly as advertised, and it works perfectly. Shipping took a month exactly, but for 3 dollars, it was still a good deal. I bought it so I could use my iTrip and iHome with an Otterbox on my phone. Note that it DOES NOT work with Lifeproof cases, however, as the hinged door to reach the iPhone's port gets in the way. The only way around this is to remove said door from the case, and that would compromise the case's waterproofing.

Ok for what it is
I bought this extended because I have problems using non-apple brand chargers my Iphone 4S in a Lifeproof case. The Lifeproof case is awesome, however the charge port at the bottom is VERY tight. It fits the Apple cable just fine, but my other 3 car chargers and cables that are non-apple just won't fit well, if at all. From that perspective, this extender works as designed. To expand on this a bit, this is a very cheaply made device. It feels very brittle, and though I've not had any problems with it, I feel it will only be a matter of time. A second note is that the door that covers the opening on the Lifeproof case opens just enough to get this plugged in. Again, it works just fine, but I don't like the way it fits and it is still tight to plug in/out of the case.Overall, for what I paid for it, I'll just shut up and use the extender until it breaks. One last note about the seller I bought this from. (NCED Liquidation) The shipping on this item was pitifully slow, and I would be ashamed of taking that long to deliver an item that fit in a tiny bubble wrapped envelope. I ordered this just after Christmas, and did not receive it until the 1st week in February. (40 days +/-). It was within their "projected" delivery, but I've never had anything take that long. As a word of caution, pay attention to the sellers location and delivery dates. It was my own fault for not reading closer.

Works just fine
Using this Dock Extender for my iPhone with OtterBox Defender Case. Works just fine for syncing &charging, as well as audio & video. Here’s a tip for using the Dock Extender with an Apple Dock, so your iPhone/iPod won’t be wobbly…• Take the #19 Insert, and using a sharp blade, shave a little of the opening, so the narrow plastic of the Dock Extender can fit through.• Attach the Dock Extender to the Apple Dock (without the #19 Insert).• Turn the #19 Insert upside down with the number facing toward you, slide it over the Dock Extender, and nestle the Insert into the Dock.• The Insert now rises upward and provides additional support for the Dock Extender.Beware: If buying this from Keybargains, you may experience delays and shipping problems. I t took me multiple emails and 2-1/2 months before I received mine.

Nice and cheap. Works just like the more expensive Radtech
The Cosmos dock extender for my Cleave iPhone 4s case. The standard iPhone charger fits in this case, however due to the cases design I cannot use it in any docks or with my Pioneer stereos fatter ipod cable. The Shortz Dock Extender allows for charging and data transfer without a hitch. The quality of the materials would be average feeling a bit light and plastic, however I would imagine over time if you were to use it with a dock the plastic would start getting loose or the actual 30 pin plug would get damaged due to the weight of the phone causing it to flex. I gave it 4/5 stars because it is very well priced compared to the more expensive offerings by Radtech that works exactly the same. You could basically get 3 Cosmos extenders for the same price so even if it became a throw away unit you would still be ahead!

It does work with a lifeproof case!
I dont know what the other reviewers were talking about, but this worked with my lifeproof case with no issue. I have used it with a couple of different chargers and plugs with no problem. It allows me to use my Bose dock and other accessories with great ease. You do have to push on it a little hard and kind of wiggle it in, and that does put a little pressure on the charge cap on the lifeproof case, but thats just the lifeproof design and has nothing to do with this connector. This little item actually helps fix many issues that the lifeproof case has and I would highly recommend it as a necessary accessory.

DOES NOT WORK WITH LIFEPROOF CASE
I wish I knew before I purchased this item that it does not work with the LifeProof Case for the iPhone 4S. I'm not sure why the seller claims it "Provides a compact extension, fits all protective cases covers, or skin (except Apple's iPhone 4 bumper case)" because that is not true. The item gets caught on the hinge of the LifeProof case and will not seat properly. Do not purchase if you are using a LifeProof Case. It will not work and you will be highly disappointed, especially if you have to wait over 3 weeks for this item to arrive like I did.

Great cheap alternative
I've been using this to link my iPhone 4 in its lifeproof case to my vehicles iPod port. This worked just like it was supposed to. Feels a bit flimsy, but for 4$ it is performing exactly as intended. I have not tried to move data with this connection, and have no intention of doing so. It was purchased to play music only, and is doing that.
