Love it and worth the price
what a brilliant little piece of engineering! This makes field stripping a Kimber Pro series pistol an absolute joy...and in only a few seconds. It performs exactly as described and is well worth the money. No wire. No need for a modified spring rod and clip for the end. You just slide it on the end of the spring rod as directed. It stays there held by magnetic force and then when the slide is released to reach it, the ball bearing grip end holds tight. When finished cleaning, etc and the slide is locked back, since the pressure is then off the spring the tool just slides right off the end. This makes taking down the Kimber 1911 (and reassembling it) far easier than the take down and reassembly of a standard 1911. Highly recommend this tool.

Fantastic tool
Wow, what a fantastic tool to bad Kimber doesn't include it with gun, expedites the take down time for cleaning or matinence balked at the price at first but after using the kimber takedown tool( the piece of wire) several times having to readjust it so you can remove the guide rod and spring assembly I thought there has to be a better way! Well this is it ,So glad I got it no fuss, just lock slide back slip on tool until it clicks , hold slide and release slide stop slowly the slide stops right at the stop removal notch, remove slide stop, slip off the slide and your done guide rod and spring comes right out no having to readjust the wire to fit and slide out the frame , couldn't be easier!

FANTASTIC Little Tool
If you have a Kimber, do yourself a favor and buy this little breakdown tool! It is fantastic and works like a charm! No more using the "paper clip" technique with this little genius tool! It is very light weight and I didn't think it would be strong enough to hold the slide back at first, but dang, I was wrong! And, Oh My, how nice it is to use this thing to break your sidearm down!! I highly recommend and think it would make an excellent Christmas present for the avid shooter on your list!

So much easier than the wire
Just pull the slide back, pop the tool onto the guide rod and let the slide move forward again. Slide stopped at the take down point each and every time. Just make sure the barrel link is pointing to the rear of the slide before trying to reinstall the guide rod. Once guide rod is in, just reassemble like normal. When the slide is locked to the rear the tool comes off with out any issues. I have been looking for such a tool for a while now. This solved all the issues i had for i kept loosing the wire every time i turned around. Would highly recommend this for anyone who has a Kimber Pro series 1911. Also any issues you have, the company is easy to work with. Had an issue with shipping and they responded with in 20 minutes of me putting in an email through Amazon. Called them today and they were very helpful over the phone even when i found the issue was with the post office claiming they delivered but never did.

Makes Field-Stripping a Breeze!
This Kimber take down tool is fantastic! I have a Kimber Pro Carry with a bushing less barrel, and takedown was a major pain in the rear until I found this tool. It works as advertised and makes the job of field stripping the weapon FAR easier! It's a bit pricey, hence the four star rating, but I no longer dread disassembly of my Kimber Pro Carry. Many people have modified this line of Kimber pistols by removing the full length guide rod and installing a partial guide rod and recoil spring, but I prefer to keep the weapon as is.

Pricey, But A Great Little Tool
I purchased. I like. I recommend. This is a great little tool for taking my Kimber 1911 (Pro Platform) apart quickly and confidently. I'm a stickler for cleaning my guns within a day or so after I shoot - most generally, I clean them the very same day I go to the range. With this tool, I have no excuse to put off cleaning and it also motivates me to shoot my Kimber more since disassembly for cleaning is made quicker and easier. The pricing on this tool seems a little high, but I also don't know the effort that goes into manufacturing it either. Someone had a great idea and it's probably more complex that I would guess and, therefore, drives the cost up. My first thought was "$50 for that little thing ... not me" .... well, I've changed my mind. For me, it's worth it. I can now field strip my Kimber in a few seconds.

Best device for a stupid gun
I was so upset trying to break down the 1911 ultra carry 2 with a paper clip. Been a Glock fan for years, love the ease to clean/break down. It was so frustrating to buy a beautiful weapon with such a dumb, non-field strippable device. This device works! I dont know the magic, it just works with great ease, a must have! Dont lose it though!

Peace of mind, well worth it!!
I've owned my Kimber Pro CDP for just over 5yrs now. Honestly I hated taking it to the range due to the fact that I despised field stripping it, which I do after every session. I found this tool and put it in my "wish list" as it seemed expensive for what it was worth. Finally got the extra funds to order it and I'm glad that I did. Disassembling my Kimber is a breeze now! You line up the tool and then the magnet does the rest. The very best part is that it lines up with the slide so that you don't have to worry about an "idiot mark" from the slide stop on the frame. It may seem expensive for what it is but it definitely is well worth it for your Kimber and peace of mind in the long run.
