Why would I need a lamè I thought, I have sharp kitchen knives and they work to score the top of the bread dough. It's just a razor blade on a stick with a handle, right?Oh, I was wrong.The lamè cuts through the surface of the dough faster, easier, deeper, and more cleanly than the kitchen knives.This lamè has a little leather blade cover, so that the razor blade is not exposed when you are done scoring your dough. Just got this lame and it is way better than my previous lame. It comes with several replaceable tips which makes it long lasting. It is very sharp and makes cutting bread easier! The handle is thick, easy to hold. It comes with a leather case for storage which is nice but would prefer a child lock function as it is so sharp! Great price for the quality!

I use this a lot! It scores the sourdough bread very easily and its easy to hold. I gave it a four because I have heard that using a small round bread lame cutter would be easier.

It was the first time ever that I used a lame to carve my dough and bake on my Dutch oven the most beautiful Artisan bread that I couldn't believe I had created it! Totally amazing, thank you very much, and so easy to use!

I followed instructions on how to use this in making Artisan Breads. I tried it and it just didn't seem as sharp as it appeared to be on the videos I watched. I rinsed it with water in-between making my cuts and that did help some. A super sharp knife did a better job. But, I am new at this kind of thing and there's a good chance I'm not doing it right yet? But, watching other bakers on YouTube use this, it seems to work for them. I don't know why I have trouble?
