These shelves are extremely sturdy. They are a thick metal and the finish has some texture to it. It came with instruction (which I honestly didn't read), drywall anchors and screws. The spacing for the installation holes are 16 inches apart, which for most homes is standard stud spacing. Given how sturdy and heavy the shelves are on their own, I would definitely recommend installing into studs where possible, even with drywall anchors I wouldn't personally trust installing in drywall alone given how heavy the shelves are without anything on them. Or if you do plan to install in drywall I might look for different anchors with longer screws than what comes with the shelves. Luckily, we were able to install in studs where we intended to hang. Once you figure out spacing and layout, the install is not difficult. My only real complaint with these shelves is they look a bit chunky, like the front and back lip extend up a bit more than I had anticipated; it's just not as streamlined or modern looking, but for the price and sturdiness I will take it! Plus the back lip gets mostly covered by pictures and knick knacks anyway. I had looked at other shelves that were same length with slimmer front and back lips but they were much more expensive and some of those reviews mentioned the metal was flimsy. Overall I'm very pleased with the overall look and the construction, would recommend!

I have been looking for some sleek shelves for my new apartment and couldn’t find one that fit my style until I found these. Not only do they look great but they were extremely easy to instal.

These shelves are fantastic. Ordered a 48 and 24 inch.Super strong, beautifully made. Look amazing in my husbands office and hold the weight of the framed photos. Highly recommend these.

Very easy to install - all hardware included. This shelf looks great. Eased edges keep my family safe - very nice.

This took no time to install. All the hardware was with the order. Just needed my drill, a level & tape measure. My one complaint is that the shelves are white and the screws are black. The diagram infers white screws.

This shelf is very well made and substantial. It’s much heavier than I expected. The product exceeded my expectations!

The shelves are great...when they come in without blemishes or bent edges. I ordered the 48" shelves and had to send them back twice before I got one that worked. I just ordered 3x24" shelves and 2 of the 3 have to go back due to what looks like a manufacturing defect in the powder coat finish. Clearly...they have an issue with quality control and nobody is checking the product.Folks at Infinite Design - I hope you are reading this. I'm only returning 2 of 3 because I need them to go with he 48" shelf.
