Black SFI 3.3 Nomex Race Balaclava - Hood

I've owned several fireproof racing balaclavas from reputable brands over the years... I don't know what this one is made of, but it doesn't look or feel like real nomex. The SFI safety certification label on it also looks fake when compared against the genuine balaclavas I own.Buyer Beware!!! Fire safety is no joke, and this kind of counterfeit trash makes me mad! >:(

This balaclava is just meh. I think it is good for a starter "baklava" (as I like to call them for fun) to make sure you enjoy racing and want to continue before investing in a better quality balaclava. That is what I did with this one.Why is it only a meh? It is much thicker snd warmer than my friend's Sparco that I've borrowed twice (and will be purchasing for myself for the 2021 season). I also don't particularly like to hole for eyes and nose and can't quite get it to sit somewhere comfortably. The top center seam of the face hole is too bulky and if I dont get in just the right spot (by the end of the season, I had it kinda figured out), it gave me a headache and, once, a full-on migraine.So is this a bad balaclava? I mean, maybe? But for the price, I think you get your value out of it. It is nomex and SFI rated and there aren't too many inexpensive ones of them out there. Just know that these are the things that will be different from higher-end balaclavas and it should probably be seen as an entry-level product.

The opening could stand to be about 2 inches wider, creeps in on your peripheral vision. Might stretch with continued use, but out of the packaging it's a bit annoying. Comfortable otherwise, does a good job of keeping hair out of your face.

Fit great and was comfortable underneath my helmet. It fit my large head fine.

Son didnt want to wear it, once he put it on he likes it. The face opening is perfect.

Fits me well. I wear it under an XXL helmet. Excellent value.
