Vague and very abbreviated coverage
The author uses overly general and vague language to describe architectural concepts. What, for instance, does the statement that "Kahn was very interested in materials and their relationship to form" mean? Or "Site analysis involves recording the aspects of a project site to inform the design as it develops." Also the book gives a beggarly coverage of architectural history and styles except in the most general terms like "classical," "medieval" and Renaissance, with 2-4 pages devoted to each. Don't expect to find anything more specific like discussion of Victorian houses or bungalows, not even listed in the brief 2-page index.. Anyone who thinks they would learn much about basic concepts of architecture from this book is deceived. There are many interesting drawings and illustrative photos, however.

The Perfect Overview
This book is by far the best for anyone interested in Architecture. This cook covers every aspect of this subject, both historical and theoretical in every process in the application of Architecture. The book starts right at the beginning of Architecture by providing a brief introduction but also including a timeline of Architecture to help you place it in the modern era. I was surprised to see the chapter `Construction' as I thought this book was only theory. This chapter was good at helping describe materials that can be used and to bring the book into a more practical sense. Each and every chapter is important into making this book a good read, but I feel the last chapter ` Realisation' has got to be the most important. This is because it brings the theory of designing Architecture into the practical application in the world. This book is very well written and each page is accompanied with relevant images/drawings/pictures to help explain each feature. I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in architecture or currently studying Architecture.

Good book but bad binding
I love this author but the binding of the books is so bad. This is the second book I get of the same author with binding problems. This one fell apart on the first day, however I am keeping it because of the contents.
