Teton Oasis/Trailrunner Hydration Backpack – Lightweight Water Pack with 2L/3L Bladder for Hiking, Running, Cycling, Biking 18L/22L Sizes – Sewn-in Rain Cover – Fits Men and Women

I bought this a season and a half ago, after much consideration for an all-purpose bag for all kinds of adventure- beach hikes, overnights, long boarding but most especially boat days. While I don't use the hydration bladder, the pocket is PERFECT for my wet items. The bag stays sturdy even with it open and it's vented at the top and through a weep hole. The helmet pouch feature? Probably great for a slim bicycle helmet, but not really a child's size. My use- SHOES! That little pocket is great for sandy flat shoes or even an low cut hiker. Or a sweatshirt or even a blanket. Down under, there's a velcro strip that contains the rain fly to cover the bag. I did not expect this feature and I was stoked! This yellow shower cap for my backpack has not let me down yet! Around the sides, I fit a large Yeti tumbler fine, but do note- it IS tight and honestly, a small tear in one cup holder is the only wear and tear evident on this pack for over two summers now. Now for the front pockets, the lower arch zip comfortably fits a battery pack, charging block, all the cable you need, and a Kindle colorsoft with room to spare for sunscreen or bugs pray. The upper pocket is sort of on its own- I use it as my catch-all pocket. Flashlight, firestarter, phone, wallet, keys when needed. Somehow there's always room for the beach treasure! For the price point, this bag is my favorite. It's comfortable and feels solid. I call it my Adventure Bag and use it exclusively apart from the work bag. If I ever had the opportunity, I'd get an even bigger one for a multi-day excursion! I hope this review helps somebody decide - just get it and go!

I've now had this backpack for a year and highly recommend it. It has been on several treks with me, in the jungles of Guatemala and the Highlands of Scotland, as well as mountain biking and my everyday use. There is very little to fault on it. I was originally concerned about the straps being a bit rigid, but they're fine. One of the net bottle holders has started to degrade a bit, but it has been through a lot of use. The elasticated cords on the front pocket mostly just get in the way, but can be easily stashed behind the front pocket. The size is perfect for me. I can carry my drone in it's case, plus an extra lens for my camera, and still have room for plenty of other necessities. When it eventually wears out I will be buying another. Great value.

Decided to replace my Columbia backpack after 15 years and really wanted to get something a little larger but not to big. Also wanted to have more than 2 compartments w\to store items without emptying the entire backpack. The Teton fit the bill perfectly. Light, many storage compartments that zip closed and tough material. I have a larger Osprey pack that is nicer but 3x the cost so perfect. The reason I gave this a 4 star is due to threads getting caught in the zipper or the material covering the zipper getting caught also. In addition, there is no provision for hiking sticks to be stored when not needed. Other reviewers complained about the water bladder leaking so I just put my Osprey bladder in, which I really like, and solved that problem. The bladder that cam with the pack is really cheaply made so I didn’t use it. The pack performed perfectly hiking at the north rim of the canyon, Bryce park and Zion park without issues for a day pack. Fit rain coat, 3l of water, lunch and snacks and first aid/survival items and no stress on the shoulders or back throughout the day.

First things first, I washed every part of this multiple times prior to use because there was a very slight smell. I filled it with water and let it sit for a few days. The water that I drank had a bit of a taste like rubber bag. Go figure. My solution is simply to empty it after every use or at least to not drink from it if it's been sitting more than a couple hours. The connectors aren't without faults and will slightly leak but it's pretty avoidable if you're careful and even if you're not it's usually very minor. The mouthpiece pinch took a little bit of getting used to especially without hands while riding on a bike. But it's totally doable and I would actually recommend these with the above caveats. I didn't buy it for insulation or temperature retention so I'm not going to speak on that. There's not a whole lot of room outside the pocket but what is there is sufficient for a small tool kit and pump in case I get a flat

Truthful review from a long distance runner. I have used this hydration pack for 5 to 10 runs now. They are 10 to 13 miles in distance. I have read many of the reviews and am posting an honest review to rebuttle many of the complaints or give advice / better options for this pack. First of all, when full, it weighs a little bit. Of course it does, your carrying water on your back. The good thing about carrying the weight is... If your race is going to have hydration stations you won't need the pack, this means you trained at a heavier weight than you will race at. That's a plus. When filling the pack, the large spout is great, it allows you to easily add electrolyte supplements through the opening. Once the pack is full, make sure to turn it upside down and suck all the air / bubbles out of the bladder and hose. This prevents the noisey sloshing and help prevent ingestion of air. When putting the bladder into the pack, obviously the lid to the bladder and the hose should always face away from your back. Unless you want some irritating things poking into your back the entire time. Make sure to use the Velcro holder to suspend the bladder bag while you are using it. If the bladder falls into the bottom of the pack, it's going to swing around more and become more uncomfortable. The straps are fine, they need to be adjusted to slightly snug. The top strap has elasticity to help prevent restriction while breathing. The bottom strap should go around your belly under your ribs and be just tight enough to stop the pack from bouncing but not too tight to prevent deep breathing. The mouthpiece is pretty terrible and takes a hard bite and while running, causes a lot of ingestion of air. If you spit out the first draw of water, the second mouthful is usually a lot less air. But, the solution to this is replacing the mouthpiece. Today I ran for the first time with a replacement ( Osprey Hydraulics Bite Valve , Black https://a.co/d/jjWqwNo ) this thing makes 100% increase is the usability of this pack. Well with the little more cost for the mouthpiece upgrade. Makes the pack even more with the price. To see the type clamp I used, look at the pictures. The hose wasn't hard to insert in the bladder as long as you read the instructions. I don't remove the hose every time I clean the bladder because I don't want to damage the oring. I do blow air through the hose when I drain the bladder. The pouch on the front is great for a UCan Gel and 2 protein bars. I've also used the bungee lines on the back to hold long sleeve shirts when the temperatures rise and I need to dress down a little. The material dries quickly and is soft and padded. I use anti chafe when I run, I did have one time that my underarm got chafed from rubbing against the strap from the pack, I think this would happen with any hydration pack, all I do now is put anti chafe on my underarms and this hasn't been an issue again. I'll prob buy another one of these packs if this one ever breaks. I'm that happy with the results for the price.

This bag is great for day hiking. The water bladder has held up excellently despite my jostling it around and often laying back in my bag at campfires. I love the compartment that detaches so you can hook a blanket or a jacket in between and not waste space in your bag. This bag holds true with being water resistant, and I recently took it with me on a kayak and continually dumped water on it and all my contents were dry (and I didn’t even use the rain tarp!). I am 5’7 and it fit me like a glove. My 6 foot sister also tried it on and was able to fit the bag to a comfortable level for herself too. This brand offers cooler color ranges than most, and you can fit nearly everything you could need for a day hike. I cram mine with a full water bladder, blanket, gloves, first aid, a couple beers, speaker, handsaw, and plenty of snacks, and I still have room to spare. The material also does not give any brush burns against your arms if you wear short sleeves or a tank top. I have tested this on a few terrains for hours. The back cushions are comfortable and super breathable - no more swamp back with this bag. I truly wish my own mattress was this comfortable… I honestly might get another of these bags because I love the green and can’t get enough of them!

I received this a few days ago but haven't had a chance to try it out yet on the trail which is why I'm rating it 4-stars at this time. I love the overall capacity of it, as well as all the pockets. I think it will be a perfect bag for day hikes without being too big. I tested the hydration bladder for leaks and there were none. Yes it gives water that "plastic-y" taste initially, but I did clean it with a bit of dish soap, rinsed well, and let it air dry for 2-3 days and that took care of the weird taste. Also there are two outer side pockets that each fit a standard 16-ounce water bottle but they seem like they will fit larger bottles too. The shoulder straps are a perfect fit for me. I was concerned they might be too wide and uncomfortable, or hit in the wrong places based on what a few other reviewers with similar physical dimensions stated. Also the sternum strap and waist strap are adjustable and fit comfortably (for reference I am 5'3, 135, 36C). The medium size pocket in the lower middle section of the bag with the logo on it has three small buckle straps - one at the top of it as well as one on either side (see pics) so it can be unhinged. I wasn't sure what the purpose is but my husband suggested it can be used to hold a jacket or blanket, or anything else along those lines. This backpack looks and feels like very good quality and I can't wait to load it up and take it out on some Fall hikes. UPDATE 10-22-23: This is now officially a 5-Star backpack. I used it for the first time yesterday on a 14-mile hike and it was perfect! It was fully loaded and comfortable for the whole trek. I started out with the hydration pack full - no leaks, and the bite valve worked great. This is my first hydration pack and I sure appreciated the convenience of being able to drink water without having to stop during those times when I was only thirsty but not needing to stop. (now comes the fun part of cleaning the thing lol - but I bought a cleaning kit and some fizzy tablets, so we'll see how that goes!) The backpack held everything I bring on a day hike, though I can see where the bigger 22-liter one wouldn't be bad either for hikes in colder weather when I bring a heavier jacket, a few other light layers, and more food items. I actually might get one in that size too if I can get it at a good sale price. This is definitely a great pack from my experience with it so far, and I'd say get it if you're on the fence.

I fell in LOVE with this bag. I wanted something with lots of functional exterior pockets. It’s the perfect size, color, I was so excited! But when I received it and tried it on, I was instantly sad. The straps are so wide and so stiff, just wearing it around the house for a few minutes I could feel a bruise wanting to form on my inner arms and on my collarbone. The buckle that goes over your chest… Sits too low on the straps, and the strap was barely long enough to go around my tiny frame. When I do buckle it it causes the already awkward straps to sort of buckle in and lift up off my shoulders, not in a comfortable way, and this is all with the bag empty mind you , I can’t imagine how much it would hurt fully weighted. The waist belt was fine, but I’m confused because I read several reviews that said the hip strap had pockets on the sides, and mine does not. The another flaw I found immediately it was that the plastic clasp on the bungee cord, was loosey-goosey, you can slide it with a pinky finger without even pinching to release, I thought that was weird. All in all, it’s a pretty backpack, seems well-built and sturdy, with some strange design flaws. All that being said it would probably be a great backpack for a man. Someone with a larger body, with wide shoulders and a flat chest. Definitely will not work for a small woman (im 5’1” 120ish lbs) with big boobs. Unless you don’t care about the chest strap. Sad to be sending it back

I purchased it for my Spiti Vally riding and I used it for 14 days continuously.It is very comfortable and having enough space for your things go for 22 it’s size is very good 18L is little small in size

Overall a great product and I like how compact it is. It is a shame that one of the side straps tore off from the seams even though it isn't heavy used.

My only complaint is that the main compartment's zipper is hard to open & close because the flap over it is so stiff. Otherwise, it's holding up well and seems to be a great pack for fit and quality.
