Purchased these tangrams for home preschool this year. My daughter loves playing with them. She enjoys following the patterns. It comes with cards to put together different shapes, most of them are pretty advanced in terms of level of difficulty. They have a rating system on the cards rating difficulty but it doesn't seem to be very relevant. Either way most tangrams come with the same exact shapes so finding free patterns online is super simple. Also love that it comes with a bag to keep everything together.

Great hands-on activity for my 3 y/o! She has an 8 piece tanagram set that she loves, so I figured this was a good investment since it contains more puzzle cards and pieces. The pieces are thin wood - maybe a 1/4”, each shape is painted it’s own color, no sharp edges and have held up very well. The cards are probably 2x2” and show each piece as it’s painted color, which is very helpful for little ones identifying the correct shape piece. Definitely for 3+ because the pieces are quite small and could definitely fit in a child’s mouth and pose a choking hazard. *IF* I could change anything it would be to have the pieces come in a metal tin and the pieces to have a magnetic backing. I solved this by buying magnetic sheets and cutting each piece to size — very time consuming, but VERY worth it to have my 3 y/o be able to do this. Without it the pieces are easily bumped and mess up the entire puzzle, which is very frustrating for little ones and could easily turn them off a GREAT mentally challenging activity. Keeps my little one entertained for probably 20-30 minutes at a time and she even likes making her own designs with the shapes. Would DEFINITELY RECOMMEND!!!

These are thin really thin wooden shapes. Most likely a painted panneling, they are that thin. The cards are one sided and kinda small with Chinese and english writing. They do provide a c canvas storage bag. The shapes have no sharp edges. Overall its a good deal for the money. The pieces being so thin makes it hard for little finger learning fine motor skills, but for a determined child this can be fun.

The only problem I have with the product is that in one of the designs it says the word “cock” for making the design. I wish it would have printed the word “rooster”. I can’t use this card in a kindergarten classroom, and trying to black it out with a sharpie didn’t really cover it up very well. Unfortunately, they are printed double sided so I can’t use the other side either. Other than that, I love the designs and the blocks are good quality.

I bought these (and a few other things) so that the preschooler would have something to entertain them self with while I helped the other child with their school work and I wouldn't have to rely so much on technology. These have been the favorite thus far! They liked them so much we are going to get an additional set.
