Kids love it
I am a tutor and my first, second and third grade students have used this delightful fun art program in our tutoring sessions and they love it. It works very well and has many features that keep students interested. It was very easy to install on my laptop and I don't have to insert the disc to play it since it was installed, like I do with other educational software. My only disappointment was that several of my students already knew the program because they practiced it on computers in their schools. But the program is so complex that they can always learn other techniques on it or show me what they've mastered. The fact that elementary schools have the program in their classrooms for enrichment and reward to children who finish their work early or earn free time is quite an endorsement. I highly recommend it.

dated software
Unfortunately, I didn't carefully read the software requirements for Mac. This software runs on my Windows Vista computer, but does not work on my Mac operating with Mac OS X 10.6.5. I bought the software from Amazon.com and didn't realize that this software is a few years old and does not work with the latest Mac operating system. I had planned on using it on my Mac.

Windows 7 No Go
I bought this to put on my daughters laptop for christmas since so many people said it runs on windows 7 and it said on here it runs on windows vista. The dvd I got does not say vista on it. I know a lot of people said you have to use old versions of reader and quicktime. That was not a problem her laptop did not have those on it so i just installed version on dvd. The install went well so I thought great not any problems. It loads fine but the animation do not work or the animated stickers. This is the main reason she likes it so much and all that works is drawing. I am so glad I tried this out before I gave it to her.

What on earth?!?!?
My kids have always used Kid Pix Deluxe 3 and loved it, however after upgrading their computers to windows 7, Kid Pix 3 would no longer run due to a change in how windows handles text to speech. So I ordered this - and thought that since it was a newer version it should be better, right? NO - WRONG!!! Somehow they have managed to take a wonderful classic kids software and junk it up. It tried to install an older version of the Adobe Reader, even tho the newest version was already installed - F - it should've quit and left the reader alone. Then the final straw - it looks like crap!!!!! Graphics are worse than version 3 and the drawing space is in a window that doesn't fill the screen if your resolution is set higher than 800x600, and most of todays monitors run at much higher resolutions than that - hello! It is 2010! How hard would it be for them to scale the software for higher resolutions? This looks and feels like software that was written 10yrs ago when everything was 16bit 800x600. What I really don't understand and ticks me off the most is that KidPix 3 didn't do this, so why does version 4 get worse and not better? Why didn't they just fix version 3 to run on Vista and Windows 7? I feel like I've been taken for a ride - thank goodness I didn't pay more than $10 for it - but even then, it's really only worth a couple of bucks.

Kids love it!
My kids love to play KidPix! I'd say around age 4 was when they really started to like it. The older kids can find more advanced stuff to do with it, and the littler kids (around age 2-3) can do simple stuff like paint. The only problem I have is that when kids are drawing closed shapes with multiple points, they cannot figure out how to get out of the shape-drawing process. If they cannot find the point they started with to click on again to close the shape, it just locks you out of everything. Kids should be able to press Escape to get out of the closed-shape drawing process. They also love the sound effects.

Fun!
Although this is an older edition it is just as fun as when I was a kid. My daughter (now 6) has spent many hours playing on kid pix. She is enjoying it as much as I did. There are many new features since I experienced it and all are very fun.The only downfall is that the stamp tool has never worked. Sad about that but we'll deal with it. We paid a great price.

Perfect for Windows Vista
I made the mistake of first purchasing the wrong software. This is the one for Windows Vista and I have a 9 yr old boy that is thrilled with it. He has wanted this for 3 yrs since he played it in school. I didn't realize that it was available for purchase. I have never seen it in a store and was thrilled to find it on Amazon. It is really fun and I must admit I have played with it as well !

kid pleasing and very intuitive
My youngest begged for this having tried it at kindergarten. Upon installation I set her up and watched her create fun, colorful art and effects with ease. She could spend hours creating (if we'd let her). The graphics rendering can be a bit pixelated at times but for the average child user, it's of no concern. The variety of the art creation potential does not represent the price paid - the software's a steal of a value. Compared to games I've purchased, this was a much better investment. Highly recommended.
