Midiplus2x2 USB MIDI interface

I honestly don't know what some of the whiney complaints are about here. It's probably from people that have no clue what MIDI is, or they're on a Mac and didn't read the instructions to download the drivers from their site. You use this with devices that have 5-pin DIN MIDI ports (like older drum machines and synthesizers) so that they can communicate with your computer. It gives you 2 MIDI In and 2 MIDI out ports. I plugged in the USB cable to my PC, and software drivers immediately started downloading to my computer because it's a system compliant device. I didn't have to waste time going to a website to download drivers. When it was done, I went into my Digital Audio Workstation, and immediately found the new MIDI ports listed for use! Lights above each port indicate when data has been received or transmitted. Because this is made of hard plastic, the only drawback is that the MIDI cables can be heavier than the device itself, so unless you weigh it down with something, it might tilt forward in the direction of the cables, depending on how they are hanging. I used an empty coffee cup, but a paperweight or a nice ornamental rock will work fine. For the price, this thing works great! I had an M-Audio Midisport 2x2 box that I loaned to a fellow recording engineer years ago, but her studio got robbed after that. I finally got around to replacing it. Glad I did.

I have a 30 year old digital piano and this box revived it and it now plays perfectly into my DAW and let's me and my son use it to record music.Highly recommend!

This MIDI converter is great, simple, works well. Keep in mind that you connect MIDI out from your device into MIDI In on the box. This may not seem intuitive, but has been the industry standard for many decades: don't blame Midiplus! If you do that, the interface works perfectly.I had a problem with the first one I purchased, and the company was very responsive and replaced immediately, which fixed the problem. I recommend this box without reservation. I actually recently needed a second one, and was happy to buy from these folks again.

It Kinda works.It won't transmit sysex, and screws up, glitches and freezes even when doing basic note data. It can sometimes work long enough to record a 3-5 minute composition, but you will be unplugging/plugging it back in, and turning the synthesizers hooked to it on and off A LOT while you are working with it.I haven't found any way to improve the situation, so I suppose it just "does this."

Someday electronics manufacturer's will decide on a connector model and stick to it. In the mean time these little gizmos will keep us making and listening to music.

No complaints on this, it just "works" when you plug it in. Havent had any glitches or issues in just over a year using it. Recommended!
