Black on White: A High Contrast Book For Newborns Board book – May 27, 1993

Great baby gifts. Newborns only see in black and white and high contrast for their first few months, so these books are great to flip through with them. It's never too early to start reading to kids.

High contrast black and white book. Great book for a newborn to look at during diaper changes or playtime. My baby is 4 months old now and still loves this book! Would recommend getting this book for your baby.

My daughter one month old likes it, she had even her favorite pictures there which she pays more attention than to the others, unfortunately there are just a few pages but for infant it is enough for some time so it is nice for babies to look at black-white pictures because infants cannot see another colors so good and they also would like to have fun and with this book you can give it to them

I think I liked this book more than my baby. She never showed too much interest in it, but I enjoyed telling her about each picture. It's rather short, so I did have to be creative to make reading time last longer. I started showing it to my daughter at 2 months, and now at 4 months we've moved on to books with bright colors and other baby's faces. Those seem to be more interesting to her. However, this book would be good for those very first weeks with baby.

I bought this for my daughter when she was 3 weeks old and started showing it to her immediately. She showed interest in it until she was about 3 or 4 months old. I still show it to her occasionally to work on her recognition of objects. Since the pictures are plain/basic I feel like it is less distracting and thus may be easier for her to focus on the image itself.

I am a preK teacher and have used many Tana Hoban books in my classroom. I was looking for a gift for a baby shower when I saw this. The black and white silhouettes are perfect for infants. They need the contrast and simple pictures for their developing eyes. I purchased 3 of these and will be back to buy more for everyone I know having a baby.

I love that there is a book I can share with my newborn. He is 8 weeks old now, but he has loved looking at this book from day 1. I will prop it up next to him when he is laying on a blanket or doing tummy time and he will stare at it for quite awhile! It's nice and thin and is perfect to carry around in the diaper bag. If you buy any "toys" for your infant, get this one!

So impressed w/ this book. My grandson is only eight weeks old and seems to be not only engaged, but actually facinated by the images. I talk about the images and he reaches out and touches the images. I am so glad that I purchased this and the White on Black book. I feel that my grandson is being very stimulated.
