S5 SlimPWRcard - 0.5mm Ultra Thin Qi Receiver Card Module for Samsung Galaxy S5 V Compatible with S-View Cover and NFC Function, Recommended to Use with QiStone+ & WoodPuck or Koolpad

Got this for my new Samsung S5. I keep it in a Lifeproof FRE case and it is a pain to plug it in to charge it. I took a chance with this and could not be happier so far. It installed in a few seconds and worked immediately. I installed the pad and then tested the phone on my Nokia pad with the factory back first and it worked great. I then placed it in the Lifeproof case and it works great with it as well.The only issue I could see is the fit of the phone back. All the outer edges fit great and look tight but around the center hole that is in the plate there was an obvious gap with a tad of play in it when pressed. Because of this I did not test it in water. The Lifeproof case fit just as it did before and I am very happy.Sure its not as fast as the factory cord but I bought this for convenience next to my bed to charge while I sleep and it fits the bill perfectly. It seems well made and was very nicely packaged.UPDATEI have now been using this for a few days and it has performed very well. I got a SD card for my phone so I removed the case and noticed the gap around the hole in the phone back seemed smaller than it was at first. I still don't know that I would trust it in water but the case seemed to have settle in after a few days.I have also found that if I put the phone directly on the pad to charge the connection is not that great. It works but will cut in and out at times. I found the fix is to rest the phone with the bulge from the camera just off the edge of the charging pad. This allows the phone back to rest flat on the pad and maintains a constant charge status.

It's about as simple as I can be. It installs easily, very straightforward. From my experience so far it also works very well. First I tried it with the standard cover and it worked perfectly. Then put the new OtterBox Commuter on and the only difference was needing to make sure it's centered with the receiver in the appropriate place on the charger. Charges fine, and much faster than I expected based on some of the reviews. It may not charge quite as fast as being plugged in directly, but none of them are that includes the S6 this S5 replaced.I want to comment on a lot of the negative reviews regarding a so-called bump that it leaves when installed, possible overheating, and lastly the fear of water resistance being compromised. So the only way any of that can be a concern is if it is not installed correctly. Yes, the part that has the contacts is a little thicker however, the contacts in the phone are recessed. If you place this receiver directly over the recessed contacts in the phone there is no bump. The cover closes fine.I'm very happy with this inexpensive solution to wireless charging that compromises nothing from what I can see so far. As a matter of fact, as far as performance, right now my phone is on the charger, bluetooth is active while I'm playing music to a Bluetooth speaker. In less than 30 minutes the phone has charged 22% from where it started. The back of the phone feels slightly warm just as any phone that I've used on any wireless charging does. This S5 replaced an S6 and there's no difference in temperature between the two.By and use this with confidence, just take the few seconds that it will take to make sure the contacts are placed correctly. Any deviation from a good contact will cause problems just as any electrical connection.

I was very concerned about buying Qi receiver for my samsung GS5. on one hand I did not want to buy the OEM cover from samsung because it adds bulk to the phone and I didnt want it to affect out it fit in my otterbox symmetry case; on the other hand I was concerned with bying qi card because I was afraid that the card would interfere with the waterproof technology of the GS5. also I have heard some of the very cheap cards do not work very well. I decided to give this one a try because the card is so thin.The card is as thin as they say it is... sort of. there is actually one little spot at the top of the card where the electro magnet connects to the metal contacts. at this connection point it is a good bit thicker. when you place the cover back on it does leave a slight indention on the back of the cover. since the indention is so close to the camera of the phone you can see where it lifts the case away from the phone. my guess is that this card probably does interfere with the water proof technology. However, when I put the phone back in my otter box, the case seems to push the back cover closer to the phone. with a good case I believe this card will completely undo the waterproof technology. its possible that it would not withstand submersion for the same length of time described by Samsung. I have not tested the waterproofing capability, and I hope I don't have to.I did not buy a charger of the same brand. Instead I bought the droid incipio charging pad. The two seem to work well. But I will only focus on the card in this review. Charger works well. There is no need to take off my case when charging it works fine with the case. There are two things you need to know about wireless charging in general: the first is that wireless charging is not as fast as plugging in, however if you are using wireless charging to charge overnight or in your office just to keep your phone topped off then this shouldn't matter. The second thing is that the reason wireless charging is less efficient than connected charging is that some of the energy that would normally go directly to the battery, turns into heat. Because of this the phone will get hot no matter which product you use. However with this card in particular I believe that it does not get so hot that you risk damaging the phone.
