For those not so diligent when buying things, these are for Magpul PMAG Gen 2's. And, as usual from Magpul, these are quality made. Been using these for years and they do as intended... To take the pressure of fully loaded mags off of the feed lips. They also keep debris from entering while in storage or vehicle transport, but honestly, they are for the feed lips. Functionality is easy to install & remove.

It fits M2 version and older pmags. snaps on and works as its a magpul product LIsted as Suppressor Cover its not that needs to be changed

I bought x2 packs of these, I would have ordered 3 but they're a little pricey. They work great and fit perfect on the top of my magpul mags. These covers allow you to keep your mags loaded, without the worry of oxidation and they keep the rounds safe inside of the magazine, they are durable and allow you to keek your magazines ready to use. It makes me feel better having these on my magazines. They keep dust and dirt out, protect your ammo from shock and are more transferable-durable and discrete. One of the covers in the lot had to be drummeld down to snap in place. This particular cover was a little bit different and had extra polymer on one end. After I figured out this was the reason for the cover not snapping in place, I was able to carefully drummel it out and it fit perfect! No big deal to repair. I would recommend these to anyone and will be buying more.

After much research on my ARs, I found many experts and "old soldiers" mentioned that magazines do wear out with use (chuckle) and get dirty. So how best to have them last a long time? Even though relatively inexpensive, a buck is a buck better used for even more expensive (currently) ammo. Years of testing notes that the springs wear out faster loading and unloading, contracting and expanding: using a magazine leaves you little choice. But nearly all felt that storing the magazine full, rather than empty, prolonged the "springiness" of the spring, based on known metal fatigue characteristics, especially with flexible steels. And so, storing full is the best way to keep your mags fully functional. But I wondered about the pressure on the lips of the polymer mag fatiguing over time, a characteristic of plastics, and had read about them slowly wearing out as bullets rub them so that when full, the top round could simply be pushed out inadvertently, or load too quickly (FTL, etc.), causing a jam. Just so happened I was reading about Magpul covers (wondered why they came with one) to keep dirt and dust out of the magazine. The evidence is that they also apply a small amount of back pressure to the lips of the mag, helping to keep them from slowly bending outward over time and wearing from pressure from the spring. Now, I'm no expert at this, but the experts I read over and over supported this, so I decided to get some of these covers for the older Magpuls (yes, I'm partial to them, though I do have some metal and other brands: Gen 2 and MOEs) I'd bought. So now, all are covered. Is this a critical action to take? Most mags will last years, but like ammo, prices have been creeping up, so though the savings may only be a buck or two, I decided to do it, both for keeping dust and dirt out AND if it also makes them last longer functionally, these are worth it. They do take getting used to. They snap off and on tightly, but even my old hands have little problem, and drop them into my bag (so I don't misplace them) or a pocket until done. Replace them at the end of my shooting session. They add no significant weight to the mags, and after over a hundred shoot/reload actions, so far no noticeable wear or feeding issues, and no breakage. Like occasionally oiling the spring in the mag (more rust prevention than anti-friction), just another quick duty. I will continue using them.

These dust covers are great for keeping dust and debris out of your pmags. The range I go to is outdoors and my range bag tends to gather dirt, rocks, and other outdoor debris that would find its way into my mags causing unnecessary wear so I got these covers to avoid having to keep disassembling and cleaning them to avoid malfunctions and excessive wear. They're made of the same material as the pmag, work well at keeping junk out of mags, and are easy to put on and remove.

These dust covers snap on to the top of a full magazine to keep dust, dirt, grime, et cetera from getting down into your mags and causing FTF/FTE issues. Some people also believe that a fully loaded 30rd magazine can allow the poly plastic feed lips to 'creep' or otherwise come out of spec, and that these little guys will solve that problem. Snap them on your loaded mags, and sleep better knowing that your feed lips will be held tight by these tough little covers - if that's your worry. One thing I personally appreciate of Magpul's ingenuity, is that you can pop the dust covers off the top of a magazine prior to inserting into your AR's lower receiver, and snap the dust cover right onto the bottom of the same magazine. (This is a feature that Magpul omitted from the Gen M3 magazines, citing that users did not often take advantage of this neat feature - I love it, and I'm sure I'm not the only Magpul customer who feels this way!) As far as 'toughness' factor, these are extremely durable. They're strong - even when below freezing they don't become brittle, like lesser poly-plastics (Sterilite immediately rises to the very top of my personal list of cheap, throw-away plastic products to be avoided like the Plague) can do. I know Magpul spent lots of R&D time in the labs, creating a rock-solid product you can stake your life on, if (hopefully never) necessary. To me, Magpul is a go-to firearm product company. Every single product they make that I've used -and used hard- has stood tall in the test of time and use. I'm not going to claim any company is infallible, but Magpul is also a good company morally. They have core beliefs that reflect our Constitution, and resonate w/ Patriots all across our Great Land of THE United States of America.
