Shrinky Dink The Incredible Maker (New and Improved)

Works really well and makes a great gift. We've given several of these and kids always love them. The window for watching the process keeps kids close to the action. This oven is easy to use and safe enough that even younger kids won't get burned. We love this at our house because we can do just one or two projects, shrink them, and we're done in 5 minutes. If you're used to heating the oven for Shrinky Dinks, this really simplifies the process.

This machine worked great! We did learn that you must leave them in the machine until the shrinky dinks start to flatten back out after curling up! My daughter took them out at first when they started curling up and they never flattened back out. She was afraid they were in there too long, but that wasn't the case! She had fun creating her own jewelry from blank sheets and using a hole puncher for the hole before shrinking!

When I asked what the twins might want for their birthdays, the reply was "Well one like crafting and the other one like baking". I immediately thought back to my childhood and Shrinky Dinks! Did they still exist? Heck yes, so I bought tons of them. I also bought the oven to go with it, so it was no stop baking, and watching them shrink. They were amazed every single time. They only thing is that some of the actual Shrinky Dinks sold, are too large to fit into the Shrinky Dink oven. Some of the Faries, their feet were sticking out of the end, so the whole thing didn't melt at the same time, and sometimes came out curved. The directions say to wait until it's completely flat to take it out, but some of the Shrinky Dinks never go completely flat. Oh well, for that price, who cares. All the kids had tons of fun with this. Bought these for my 5 yr old nieces, and they absolutely loved them. As a matter of fact, so did my 5 yr old & 6 yr old nephews, and 7 yr neighbor girl. Everyone was coloring and coloring, and coloring. We were all sitting on the dock, next to a lake, on an absolutely gorgeous day, coloring and baking shrinky dinks! That's how much fun everyone was having ! Gotta admit, I too was pretty much taken at watching these thing shrink, and shrink, and shrink again. Great, cheap fun for all ages and amazingly for boys & girls alike! I still couldn't believe the boys couldn't get enough of them either. Good thing there are dinosaur and insect sets! I know what I'm getting them for their birthdays!

I bought this for my ten year old and she loves it. It works well but has a chemical odor while in use. Use adequate ventilation. You must also be careful not to let the Plastic Push Tool touch the hot plate area as it will melt the tool. You will need to quickly push the tray into cooling chamber after shrinking. The shrinking occurs quickly and sometimes the paper will lift up before flattening out again but that doesn't harm the design. Permanent colored ink pens and colored pencils work great on the paper and show up well after shrinking to a hard plastic finished product. All cutting and hole making needs to be done prior to shrinking as the paper shrinks into hard plastic. Once the tray with the shrinkies is in the cooling chamber, it cool down quickly. Because it is electric and does get hot inside, supervision is needed for children.

No no and just no!! If I could submit 0 stars I would I purchased this for my daughter's birthday being today may 2nd. I loved shrinky dinks growing up and would have loved to pass down the love to my little princess. So silly me for just wrapping it expecting it to be complete. Nope this shrinky dink maker was noticeably used, kids stickers all over it. Missing everything besides the machine. However they were nice enough to send us their little drawing of a car!! Box was also noticeably ripped open!! Yep waisted money. AND disappointed 5 year old!!!

I loved shrinky dinks when I was a kid so I was totally geeked to find this toy for my daughter. She did have fun with it but there are a few things I would change if I could. 1) The thing you push the tray through with is plastic. If you don't move super fast it begins to melt on the heating part. 2) The storage drawer holds only some of the accessories. The spatula thing doesn't fit. 3) The colors the pencils come in aren't very Pretty. I wish it came with pink and purple pencils too. I went and bought some, but they're full sized so they don't fit in the storage drawer either. 4) It would be nice if the top of the entire machine was see through. Once you push the tray through to the place it's supposed to cool down, you have to peek though the slit at the end to pull the tray out with the spatula. Beyond those little details, it's a decent toy. It does kind of smell like it's going to catch fire any minute so I'm careful not to leave it plugged in too long. Also, the top of the machine gets pretty warm when it's on for a few minutes. Definitely keep little fingers away. Although that can be hard because they're trying to look through the orange plastic window at their shrinky dinks shrinking.

I bought this for myself- to make jewelry with. It's kind of a pain that you can only put one piece in at a time, but it sure beats having to turn on the oven and takes up much less room than a toaster oven! If you watch the piece "baking" through the dome, you can see when it's doing what it's supposed to do and is done. Great little piece of equipment!

UM. the paper STICKS to the tray and has a 75% chance of deforming the mini masterpiece. You're better off using a traditional oven with non stick aluminum foil.
