Great for money management & investments and getting started with financial planning.
This is a great book into our emotions surrounding money and how to create a different and better relationship with it. If you're looking for specific tactics or strategies around earning, saving, or investing, this is the best book. The author's approach is very practical and allows you to choose your values and priorities when it comes to money. He views money as a gateway to self-awareness, healing, and confidence. Something I’ve learned over and over again is that you don’t have to do life the way everyone else does. The best part is the book's is the ability to motivate and the content really encourages you to approach your financial strategies from an emotional place. Read this and find out!!!!!

The book is a welcome step promoting financial literacy among the people.
As the title suggests, ART OF HANDLING MONEY AND INVESTMENTS: A Practical Guide to Personal Finances, is a must read for everyone wanting to understand in the simplest possible terms, nuances of financial system and various investment options available in India. The Author has explained the subtle differences between assets and liabilities on the one hand and expenditure and investment on the other as the fundamental building blocks of personal finances. As financial decisions ,like most others in life, are based on certain implicit and explicit dynamic assumptions in nature, the concept of risk management is discussed in terms of our limitations to precisely predict them. Same is the ease with which the concept of volatility of individual stock as well as the entire portfolio has been dealt with. It is indeed, a practical guide to personal finance. Providing data over a time series capturing the bullion price would have led to Further value addition supporting the contentions put forth by the author. Simple yet lots of practical wisdom.Dr SK JoshiFormer Chief Secretary, Telangana

Personal Finances- A must guide
Financial inclusion is now a national mission to draw in the teeming millions of India into formal economy and financial systems. As more and more of Indians enter formal financial system it is critical that they also develop a robust understanding of various options available for managing their financial resources in the backdrop of their evolving needs and life goals. It is indeed a reality that what may seem obvious to many of us in this context is not the case with a large proportion of our population.Rajiv Tayal’s book is a useful and refreshing piece of work that seeks to (and succeeds) explain the role of money in our lives and various dimensions of management of personal finances. He deftly brings out basic concepts that must be understood for a better utilisation of various saving and investment instruments. He declutters the jargon through lucidly written narrative that is neatly packaged into small chapters that makes the book an easy read. The book is recommended for all who deal with money, especially those who have just begun their tryst with formal banking and most importantly the youngsters who are about to enter the earning phase of their lives. The reach, and impact, of the book will be vastly enhanced if it can also be translated into widely spoken Indian languages.

Simple but lot of wisdom
Though large number of books are available on Personal Finance, this book by R K Tayal stands out clearly. This book starts with simple concept like what is money, and go on to explain various aspects like art of savings, how much to spend, delayed gratification, psychology of handling money and some practical tips for investments in various asset classes like equity, debt and gold augmented with data and charts. It also covers philosophical aspects like " how much of money is sufficient?" and "will money bring happiness'' in a holistic sense. Though it is an important subject, these topics are not taught in schools/colleges except in business schools.Overall, it a book to be in every adult's bookshelf ( or in Kindle), particularly those who are starting their career to know about money and follow the wisdom given in the book for wealth creation, happiness and above all freedom.
