Very good mechanical pencils at a very reasonable cost.
These are very good mechanical pencils at a low cost per pencil for mechanical pencils.

Not quite the same as the old ones, but good enough.
I've used these for decades and finally needed more. They look pretty much the same, although the yellow shade of the barrel is lighter (the older ones were more gold). Also the lead seems to have more of a waxy texture to it than the good old hard leads in my old ones. That said, it does erase great and has the same fine point. Overall, if I can't have the originals from 25 years ago, these will do.

Long lasting mechanical pencils
I have used these pencils for many years and can attest to them being very long-lasting. I am a crossword (& other puzzles) addict and go thru’ many puzzle books in a year, as well as the daily newspaper ones. I am also a needlework artist. I work out all my crochet & counted cross stitch patterns on graph or engineering paper using these pencils. I especially like that they are twist-ups rather than the click-up type as I can more easily control the length of the exposed led I need and twist it back in as necessary. The soft pink erasers are more than adequate especially since there is often lots of erasing when laying out needlework patterns.! They are still #2 leads, but in recent years are not quite as soft as they once were so the color of the lead is somewhat lighter and sometimes the lead will pierce thru’ newsprint paper. Keep in mind, the lead in these pencils is not the same as what you get in the old standby wood pencils. (I still keep #2, 3 & 4 wood pencils around for other uses.). The only downside is that the pocket clip breaks off easily if it is clipped to anything too thick. I solved this for myself as I had saved some removable metal clips from a few dried up old stick-style pens that fit these pencils perfectly.

Hallelujah Choruses from High School Classrooms
Every high schooler like myself knows that pencils are essential everyday (especially for those "pop" essay write ups in English). And when you're writing, you ultimately just want one that works. Sure, you'll want one that feels nice, looks cool, has a cool grip, colors that make your eyes pop, but eventually someone who's sad enough to take it does so. Oh, and let's not even start to talk about those terrible mechanicals that look and work great, but whose erasers cause a word to be smeared rather than actually erased. This pencil covers everything in a teenager's mind: 1) IT WORKS. 2) Lead doesn't break thanks to the spring action thingy. No more broken lead (it just makes your life that much harder in the moment) 3) Eraser ACTUALLY ERASES COMPLETELY!! 4) It won't break when you drop it, practically indestructible for a mechanical pencil I would list more, but I would probably bore everyone. So long story short, this pencil is amazing cause it's cheap, durable, and just flat out works. Which is what every high schooler who is writing those in-class essays or solving a math problem wants. Actually, it's what everyone wants. Simple.

Quality Control is Absent
This is my favorite mechanical pencil, I like it because the density of the graphite combined with the internal spring yield a really great writing experience. I ordered this pack of 12 to share that experience with my kids. The first 3 out of the box were defective, the graphite kept retreating back into the pencil. This resulted in an immediate request for return. I tested the other 9 and they were wildly inconsistent. Some graphite was really hard, unlikely to be HB#2 and two were really soft. Overall 4 were defective, 3 were too hard, 2 were really soft and 3 were similar to my original pencil. I realize I sound like goldilocks, and I will admit I spent more time than deserved on testing these for the greater cause. The color of the plastic is also noticeably a brighter, more acidic yellow than the version that has been my favorite for years. This experience made me sad.

A great pencil
An excellent multi-purpose auto pencil. The pink pearl eraser makes it all the better. Well priced too.
