ASWB Masters Study Guide 2022-2023: New Outline + 340 Test Questions and Detailed Answer Explanations for the MSW Exam (Includes 2 Full-Length Practice Exams)

I found this book was easier to read compared to the Dawn Apgar Book. It covered all major areas that are on the masters exam and includes more questions. However, Dawn Apgar book does provide more information and in more detail than this study book. I am satisfied with this study book and use it as a companion to the Dawn Apgar Study book.

I’m not one to typically write reviews, but figured I probably should considering this prep book only has like four stars and 60 ish reviews. I purchased this book to help me prepare for my initial master’s level social work licensure exam. I only used this book to study and ended up passing on the first try. I like that the content is more straight forward than the Apgar text, hardly any fluff, and the practice exam questions are similar to what you would see on the actual exam. If you’re in doubt, I do recommend this book if you’re looking to pass your exam. Good luck!

Great read! To the point. Practice questions do not mimic the test but good for material knowledge. I also used an app and took the ASWB practice test. Studied 4 days and graduated 6 years ago.

After reading through this study guide, not only did I find many spelling errors, I also discovered a very general content of information. Many of the practice questions are also redundant and misleading. These areas of concern were very distracting while trying to study, and due to this, I found myself questioning the integrity of what I was learning. Studying for your LMSW is challenging enough! Please don’t release study materials that are on a lower standard than what we are expected to know for the real exam. Whoever wrote/published this book should be supervised!

This book is helpful when you are first starting to create a solid base of the most basic information and how to recall it. However, the actual exam expects broader knowledge and a more detailed understanding. I would recommend starting with this if you can get it for $20 and then buy the Apgar too as your stretch. I also found the practice exam from ASWB very helpful. Be sure to take the ASWB practice a few weeks before because you have a month to review the rationales. You could even study this book, take the ASWB a month out, and then if you feel like you did poorly on the ASWB practice, buy the Apgar and spend a month with that book to deepen your knowledge and practice on more complex questions. The only reason to get this book is to not be immediately overwhelmed by the Apgar book, which is deliberately overly complex and obscure.
