Will having the heat or ac on affect my phone if in this holder?

Having the heat or ac on doesn't affect the cell phone at all. It's a good holder for the price and works well. I had no problems with using it on a recent trip.

what is the hook thickness? my vent is slightly less then 1/4 inch between slats...will this fit?

The hook itself is about 1/4", and the arm is about 1/8". There's a knob on the back of the mount that turns to pull it tight against the slat. You may have to bend a slat slightly to get it in and out, but you shouldn't havea problem.

Yes it does like most of them, but make sure you look at the vent configurations if there available. I have a older Honda Pilot, and not all of the holders will snug down tight enough on them so that your phone doesn't move around on it. My choice is to pay alittle extra and get the holder that has the vent clip and also the suction cup holder so you don't have to continously send a holder back that doesn't work for you.
