Interesting read
Finally a glimpse into the secretive life of forest officers! I picked up the book because of fascination for wildlife, forests and forest services. Alas this book shattered my image of a Steve Irvinesque khaki clad forester in a quite definitive way. Contrary to our beliefs, forest services is much less about chasing tigers, leopards and forest critters, it is a much more difficult, mundane life and a bureaucratic quagmire albeit in an adventurous, beautiful lush green settings. The author has summed up the entire life cycle of forest officers and their subordinates in minutest detail, in a very intersting and gripping way, sprinkled with humorous anecdotes it brings out the hardships, loyalty, betrayal and many more travails and tribulations of bureaucracy. Although it relates to forest services we can easily peep into the ways our govt functions. All together a very well written journal.
