Q: Are the balls soft foam, or are they hard plastic?

Foam. Fairly soft and compressible, but the 90 fps velocity gives them some snap when they hit you. Great for teens and adults, but if you shoot a six year old they will weep.

Q: Can you order extra balls ?

Nerf sells official ammo refills in quantities of 50 (occasionally 25 and 30 packs, but those are harder to come by). You can buy them on Amazon, or in big retailers like Target and WalMart, but at $15 for 50 rounds it's kind of pricy. But there are many off-brand options available on Amazon that will sell decently comprarable ammo for much cheaper (like $12 for 100 rounds). Avoid HeadShot ammo, it's super stiff and dense.

Q: Will a shot ball reach a 50 feet?

Not a stock Kronos to my knowledge at least with any kind of accuracy. I bought this to modd identity to one i gave away, Foam Technician- spring and sight of which I like as a priming tool apposed to a T/Pull. I feel this molded blaster is relatively accurate up to maybe 25', but I strive to use my Zinc (20'-55')for anything beyond about 20'. Even my Jupiter is more accurate after 20' then the stock or modded Kronos and probably barely reaches 50'.
