It's CrAzY how finding a good decent battery operated Clock of the right size for your bedroom can be today! So I came to Amazon and ordered many clocks and it came down to this one but it had flaws so I made some MODS to mine and now it is Flawless and PERFECT for my needs. (Read on)I loved this Clock so much BUT when I woke up late at night and pressed the top LIGHT button to see the time, the BLUE LED clock light was SO BRIGHT it would Blind me! (As many reviews had commented). Also I like my room pitch black with NO lights and I could NOT turn off the Green LED Backlight no matter how low you adjusted the variable control on the rear. SO being an electronics repairman here is the MODS I made to my clock to make the BLUE LED go from 100% bright to about 20% (Just perfect @ night) and a rear switch to cut OFF the Green Backlights.I took the clock apart (See Photos) I located the 2 Orange wires which are for the BLUE LED and I placed in a 1.2k ohm resistor in series. At first I used a 1K ohm resistor but still was just a tad too bright, so I changed it to a 1.2K ohm and it is PERFECT for viewing @ night without blinding me!Now I wanted to get rid of the green LED backlights but still allow myself to turn them back on and adjust them should I desire to use this feature. So I located the white LED-G wire (G for green backlight) and removed the wire and installed a small On/Off switch on the rear of my clock. Now I can TURN ON/OFF the annoying green backlights at night and keep my room completely dark. If I desire to use this feature I can turn it back on at the throw of a switch and control the brightness.You can see an image of the BLUE LED brightness in a totally dark room. It is SO MUCH LESS BRIGHT and does not hurt your eyes at all in the middle of the night! NOW I TOTALLY LOVE THIS CLOCK!!!! Some reviews have said the lifespan may be short, well I ordered a backup and have done the same MODS to it and have it so when down the road I still have my PERFECT Bedroom analog battery Clock.

Really like all the features of this bedside clock. My only concern may be battery replacement. When the batteries are tightly in, the three clips that snap the cover over the battery area are very, very thin, tiny and fragile plastic. Could break very easily. Otherwise, I would have rated it a five.

I purchased this alarm clock for its great features of a large face, night light and pleasant alarm. All these features are meaningless if the clock suddenly stops. This is the case with this clock. It REPEATEDLY stops on it's own. There is a defect with the battery compartment and it loses power - WHENEVER AND CONTINUALLY.Were it just my clock, i could understand, however I bought the same clock for a friend and it does the same thing. Go elsewhere for a reliable clock.

Just bought my 3rd one of these after the one I've had for 12 years broke when it went flying off the bedside table. That original one was silent, dimmable lights worked perfectly. The clock hands didn't line up quite right, causing occasional confusion in the middle of the night and when the alarm was set at 5 am in would go off at 5:20 (perfect for me!). The 2nd one we bought ticks really loudly and so was relegated to the living room bookshelf. But the hands are right on as is the alarm. And now the 3rd one, so far is absolutely silent, the dimmable light turns off (I like it just above off) and the hands are aligned. The most important this to me is a silent clock with no bright lights. In 2012 I payed 12.99 for the clock, lasted 12 years, pretty good deal! Oh, and you'll know when your batteries are dying as the lights stop working.

This is my third clock. After ordering the clock due to my cats constantly knocking over and eventually breaking it, I ordered 2 new clocks. One worked perfectly and the second one did not. I returned the one that didn't work. Surprisingly the replacement clock showed up 2 days later. This clock is battery operated and has a soft glow. A button on top allows you to lighten up the face. Love, Love, Love this clock!
