Dyson v8 for example runs on 21.6 volts, how does the dyson run on only 20 volts?

Actually Dyson V8 batteries have 6 cells and are 21.6V nominal. DeWalt packs all have 5 cells x 3.6V in series and so are actually18V nominal, which many of their batteries actually say on the label. DeWalt just calls it a 20V system because fully charged it will actually hit 20V but then decrease about 2-3 volts as it discharges. (The 20V nameplate probably also helped them differentiate the newer lithium battery system from their much older 18V nicad system). At any rate, 18V is close enough to run the vacuum pretty well but one could assume about 15% slower motor speed. I would also think it would cause the vac's low battery warning light to come on sooner though, as that generally goes by pack voltage.

With this attachment the dyson v8 kept going, but the head got a bit hot, are their any problems with duty cycle of the dyson kept running?

It works on light suction but it turns off after 3 seconds when i switch it to max suction ; what should I do?

For this situation, we suggest that you should check your battery's electricity and capacity. The vacuum cleaners' usage totally depends on your battery's capacity. The adapter is just a converter, which won't cosume battery power or electricity.

Does it match a 18v dewalt 2.0ah dcb183 battery?

Red light shows up when inserted with a 2AH Dewalt battery.  I assume that red light means low capacity although it still runs.  Green light shows up with a 5AH battery.  The fully charged Dyson battery has a blue LED light.  DeWalt batteries are heavier and can only be charged using a DeWalt charger.
