Is it necessary to install this kit's inverter board if the the inverter board from my laptop still works?

The existing laptop inverter is not compatible with the circuitry / wiring. At least not for the various lcd monitor screens I have used.

Can i purchase the main board only? I purchased this and it worked great, but 1 week later, the main board started smoking. Now it doesnt work
