URO Parts 17137501959 Expansion Tank, Does Not Include Level Sensor

This expansion tank is a good alternative to the $107 part that my BMW dealership wanted to charge me. Installing this part is very straight forward due to the quick release clips that connect the coolant hoses to the tank. Please be aware of one issue! This will save you from having to reinstall it. The male ends or "nipples" on this tank, which sink into the hoses, have ridges or burrs that protruded from them caused from the manufacturing process. This small relief in the plastic doesn't make for a perfect seal. You will get small leaks from this and similar aftermarket tanks. I fixed this issue by sanding these nipples with 600 grit sand paper and polishing off the ridges. Use very fine grit. You don't want to damage the plastic. Once smoothed out, everything snapped together and I have no leaks. For $2 dollars of sand paper this was a money saving project. If this seems like too much fussing around, go with the BMW dealer product. They take the little burr off for another $60. So after spending 4 days doing a large cooling system overall on my BMW X5 4.8is (replaced coolant crossover tube, valley pan, water pump, hoses, and expansion tank), to my shock, I started to drop coolant as I was refilling the system. I could not believe it was coming from my new URO Parts expansion tank. When I removed it I noticed two very large cracks where the cooling was seeping from (see photo). How did this get past quality control?

2006 X5 sport. The old one leaked out of the level sensor in the bottom. The seal is not acessable so I replaced the whole reservoir.
