Caribbean Food Made Easy

i never really put too much thought into caribbean food despite going to several caribbean islands. This book changed my mind. the food looked so delicious, i just couldn't pass this one up. The book offers classics like jerk chicken but has many other dishes that i have never heard of. That is a big plus for me because i will try just about anything once so there aren't too many foods i am unfamiliar with. The book offers recipes with exotic ingrediants like ackee as well as healthy option for those of us watching our waistline.

This is a wonderful compilation of recipes from the entire Caribbean region. Each one is well structured, easy to follow and deliciously described. There are a wide variety of spices used which might seem intimidating at first, however they are easy to acquire and once you have them you will want to use them more and more. Almost every recipe has a beautiful and mouthwatering photo to accompany it, which only makes picking which recipe to make harder, as they all sound delicious. So far I have prepared approximately one third of the recipes and all of them have been great successes. Also, I have been able to adapt the techniques and flavors I learned from this book and apply them to other recipes and creations of my own.

I've enjoyed Levi Roots BBC show on Caribbean food, which is what compelled me to seek out this book. "Caribbean Food Made Easy" has the same wonderful color, spirit and style as that show, filled with authentic recipes and Levi's very personal touch. The photography is enough to make you salivate and every recipe I've tried so far has turned out excellent. I really look forward to continuing to explore this cookbook in the coming months, as the food really reminds me of the flavors and tastes I've enjoyed in the Caribbean islands myself.

As one who is new to Caribbean cooking, the recipes are easy to follow and the food is delicious. This book has encouraged me to seek out other books to learn more about this cuisine.

I have had this cookbook for about 2 weeks now and in my opinion this is one of the best cookery books I've ever had, and I have a few...I'm not very good in the kitchen and have always struggled with following recipes, but Levi's instructions are so straightforward that even I can follow and achieve amazing results. I am so happy with this book that I have ordered another two of Levi's books. I love caribbean food and finally I can cook some of my own. I have made four recipes and they have all turned out great. Happy times for me and my family! Thanks Levi for truly making it easy. I would recommend this cookery book to anyone, you will not be disappointed.

A book that is filled with useful information advise on Caribbean food, It has a wonderful a ray of colour pictures, not just of food or dishes but also of the raw produce. I have been only reading some parts of it but found it very useful already and also look forward to try the recipes. A book well worth buying I did try to it when it came out but could not find a copy in my local book shop. Now closed down.

I brought 2 books, one as a gift and one for myself. Recipes are really delicious, easy to make and beautiful photos. I love it! I would recommend.

I hadn't seen the series when I ordered this, but I love Caribbean food and wanted to try some myself. The dishes I've cooked have been delicious (though one of the salads was a little sweet for my palate) and, most significantly for me, easy to find the ingredients for. I've other recipe books with dishes listed that look divine but finding all the ingredients is nigh on impossible unless you've got Marco Polo doing your shopping for you. This book is different. Most of the ingredients are easily found in the local supermarket, and directions on using them are clear and enjoyable to follow. Highly recommended.

This book shows you how to make good wholesome Caribbean food, everything in this book are things my mother had cooked for me and more, which is always a good start. I wanted this book as I was leaving home and I needed to start cooking for myself, Caribbean food happens to be my utmost favourite cuisine, but I wasn't sure on how to make everything I liked such as Curry goat, Rice and peas, ackee and salt fish and so on. Many of the recipes are quick and easy to follow, and excellent for people who have never even made Caribbean food before.
