Internal noise
Bought this and was very satisfied with it, Valve closed , it gives a pleasant "stockish" sound and with the valve open, it definitely adds some deep note without being exaggerated or bothersome.unfortunately a couple weeks ago it has something inside making a rattling noise, I dk if a soldering point is loose or any piece from the actuator is loose. Still opens and close fine, just sounds horrible with this rattling.

06 Subaru STI
Installed on a STI with a straight pipe. Installation wasn't too hard - had a performance shop weld it in, then wired it up myself using an accessory power wire in the trunk.With the valve closed, the car sounds almost stock - maybe a few extra decibels, but otherwise it's pretty impressive how quiet the car is - definitely quiet enough to drive around a neighborhood at night without waking anybody.With the valve opened, the volume difference is pretty dramatic - it's not as loud as a pure straight-pipe, but it's definitely got a savage roar to it.The only real complaint that I have is that I don't like the wireless transmittors - i would much prefer to hardwire a switch or something - the remotes don't always register when you push the button, so sometimes you gotta push it a few times to actuate the valve.All things said and done, this is a great product - it's certainly expensive for a muffler, but it works great, and I'm very satisfied with it. I'm looking forward to road trips without bleeding ears.

Sounds good and the adjustability is nice, motor will fail and they won’t replace it
Seems well made, at first it’s a bit quiet. Now after 2 weeks it’s a bit louder, have read that it will continue to get louder for about a month. Read several reviews about the motor failing, will update if I have issues.Edit 6/14/20 Motor quit working. Contacting Varex to see what they will do.Edit 11/10/22 Varex never replaced the motor, had to buy my worn. Been threw 2 more. Every 6 months they fail. Now have to manually open and close it with a cable. Buyer beware
