Good basic information and overview of project management
I recently found myself in a role where I have a lot of duties consistent with project management and I'm finding this book to be a good companion. In some instances, it is a little to basic. My only complaint is that I'm growing tired of the comparison of the material to the project management certification manual, PMBOK7, and how PMBOK7 is different than PMBOK1 -6. I removed one star for this. I'm not interested in how the philosophy of project management and preparation for the exam has changed over time, but I do appreciate that others might be reading it to prepare for the certification exam, and maybe this info would be helpful.

Hmm
Stated that the package was handed to a person yet nobody was home and it was left on the porch? But I got it in good shape.

If you want a great overview of project management methodology in one book, get this one
I have used Stan Portney's Project Management "dummies" books for well over a decade, both for personal use and as a recommended read for some of the engineering courses I teach. I have also had Stan as a guest speaker our our institution on multiple occasions. It's sad he is no longer with us, but his son Jonathan has continued to update the book in the same high quality and easy-reading manner that Stan did.As I noted in the title of this review, if you're only going to have one book on Project Management, get this one.
