I tried those UV bug zappers and the worked great on mosquitoes in an enclosed area (my shed), but we're useless in an open area(my back porch). I brought the swatter with really low expectations. But much to my surprise they work really well. Every time I step outside, dozens of mosquitoes swarm around my legs, biting and stinging. Now armed with the electric swatter, I hear two or three satisfying bzzzt pop pop with each swing. After a minute or two I must have slain twenty or thirty mosquitoes. I'm not sure how long the batteries last yet, but being able to work/play in my backyard again make these swatters a great buy. Getting two for the price of a high end swatter makes it a better value.
