Got the job done!
I was worried that one so inexpensive would not be sturdy or have problems because my measurements were of a rotating assembly. It was very pleasing to see it was as sturdy as the commercial units I used at work and it functioned just like them. If you have use one before it is exactly like the good ones that are much more expensive. I had no problems what so ever and got things done the first time. And I always double and triple check things, and it was very consistent. I could not be happier, even though I may not need it for a while, it's nice to know I have a good one in my arsenal of tools!

A nice DIY'er dial indicator set
A nice DIY'er dial indicator set. I am using it on my current brake job and will go back and measure rotor run out on 2 other vehicles I did. The magnetic base works good, its not supper strong and you can pull it off any surface you put it on but its fine for this price point. The base bottom is not flat it has and angle in from each side leading to a flat center so it sticks to your strut pretty well. You can always unscrew the magnetic base and clamp the bar to whatever you want. Pretty accurate, although you need to ensure you really torque down the adjustment knobs. I set to zero, then tapped the arm a few times to see if it went back to true zero, if not it indicates base not so tight or knobs not so tight. It went back to zero or just about zero most times. Made a mark on my rotor and went around, was happy to see my 120K rotor was still under 3 mils tolerance. Did it a few times to check accuracy and it was good to within 1 half mil 0.0005 when I did multiple 360 revolutions. You need to be careful though, this is not the most accurate support or indicator on the market, That is not a put down on this product, I think its great. just realize the price point and you really cant ask for more. I checked my drill press check and found that to be less than a mil accurate, an 89$ drill 10 years old from Big Box store. Wow! Will also use it for setting up my table saw and check my routers. Lots of uses. Reccomeded for DIY'ers doing brake jobs, you really need to know if your in spec or you will find out when you brakes oscillate.

Accurate, and a good value
Purchase this dial indicator show that I could find TDC ON AN ENGINE I WAS REBUILDING. I FOUND A MAGNETIC BASE TO WORK VERY WELL AND THERE WERE MANY ADJUSTMENTS POSSIBLE SO THAT THE DIAL INDICATOR WAS PROPERLY ALIGNED WITH THE INTAKE VALVE STEM. VERY NICE CASE TO KEEP THE INSTRUMENT FROM BEING DAMAGED.

Works Great!
Works great, it is now a permanent part of my table saw enhancements. The magnet switch is easy to turn ON and OFF, the magnet is very strong and holds indicator tightly and exactly in place. Indicator repeats back to the zero when I move fence away and back, indicator is right on. I use it daily.

My mistake
I give this five stars because it appears that it is worth the price and would work as advertised and it would be disingenuous to give it a low score since I was the one that screwed up .Maybe I can help someone not make the same mistake - my problem is that I have aluminum feed tables on my Porter Cable Jointer and this has a magnetic base, so back to the drawing board... When I bought it, it was not prime, so 1/3 of the price was shipping and I would have to pay shipping back which is so not worth the effort and cost, so I guess I have a nice new dial indicator to use on???

Not a bad dial indicator
I needed something to give me a rough idea of the runout in a motorcycle wheel. This indicator did the job. Although I can not vouch for its accuracy, it gave me believable results. The included fixture provided sufficient flexibility to get the probe where I needed, and the magnetic base was strong enough to give a stable reference point. I had clamped it to a Vise-Grip plier that was clamped to a conveniently located bolt on my reference assembly (the light-alloy housing of a trailing arm). This required a reasonably strong magnetic clamping force, and the magnetic base on this product was strong enough. The price was right for an occasional-use item, and the supplier shipped very quickly.

great tool
bought for saw alignment but can be used for anything this is way less than those saw gauges that can only do one thing
