Wonderful for older kids who like pattern blocks!!
These cards are great for kids who need more of an challenge. Pattern blocks are a great toy to teach math and other things such as patterns, classification, and colors. These cards are much more challenging then the beginning level cards and add a spark of fun to the pattern blocks. Some cards the shapes that you can make already laid out, others just have an outline of a shape and you need to use the number of blocks to fill in the shape. This requires a little more concentration and skill. All in all, these pattern block cards are great for older kids who 6 and older. My kids are 7 and 8 and find them fun and challenging. All in all a great toy and investment.

Fun for more than just preschoolers
My daughter had pattern blocks in kindergarten, and never felt she had enough time to play with them. So she asked for some for Christmas. She is bright, so along with a more generic card set, I purchased these. They are pricey for just being cards, but it is a rather specialized market. I thought that these cards had a lot of variety in skill level. I'm very pleased I purchased them. Both of my kids (4 and 6) love to do them. Some cards have fairly basic designs. Some have just the colors, and the child needs to figure out how to best fit the blocks in that space. Some have only the outlines, so the child cannot rely on color alone to place the blocks, but needs to look at the shape. Some cards ask for the child to complete the pattern. Some ask the child to create the symmetrical version of the shape that is shown. And our favorite have only an outline and say something like, "Complete this with 10 blocks. Now complete it with 35 blocks." Some of these can be tricky. This is advertized as going to second grade, and I would say that is accurate. We have owned them for 7 months now, and they still get played with at least weekly. Children who come over also enjoy them.

Just the right balance of challenge and fun
I bought these for my son for morning warm-ups before we start lessons (we are homeschoolers). He has outgrown our other ones, and these are absolutely perfect. They're challenging, yet not frustrating. And they occupy his hands and get his brain going.

A clever combination of challenge and entertainment for kids
These are thoughtfully designed pattern block cards. I had a hard time at first justifying the purchase knowing there are printable versions available for free. I'm glad I got these. The card stock is good quality and will last a while. These cards are a step up from Learning Advantage 8837 Pattern Block Activity Cards (Pack of 20) which are also nice but best for younger/beginner level children. This pack delivers a 3-D style that makes fun optical illusions with the block patters. There is a range of skills to be practiced here - different cards have different little games to play. Some are with pattern recognition, some with symmetry, some show the outline and color if block but not individual cells, some have the outline of the entire shape with hint on how to fill it in. I use these cards with my four-year-old (who is an advanced learner) in our homeschool/unschool environment, I know these cards will continue to challenge and entertain her over the next few years. I can see them being a good teaching tool for kids 4-8. Overall, I think this is a very clever pack and would recommend it to other people as well.

A Gift that Keeps on Giving!
I purchased several of these to give as holiday gifts to children in the family. As both an educator (for 18 years) and a parent (of 3 beautiful children), I highly recommend this product. It is convenient to have the cards and the pattern blocks in one set and it is also easy to store everything together. I bought these for two children who are in kindergarten, however, my son began using them at 3, and they will also be useful throughout elementary school. From differentiation of colors and knowing the shapes to understanding fractions to introducing geometry to mastering patterns to promoting spatial relationships and creativity, this set is worth its weight in gold! They have provided my boys hours of quiet independent play...except when they quarrel over who has more trapezoids or rhombi (yes, they actually say rhombi!) Enjoy! *warning, it is a choking hazard so be mindful of having them around smaller children or even older kids who are prone to putting things in their mouths!

AWESOME!!
My mom had some of these cards and the matching blocks back from when I was a kid 20 years ago. We found them & pulled them out, & my 5-yr-old son just can't get enough! But she only had a few cards. Luckily, I found these & they keep him entertained much longer - he even gets his friends playing them & they have fun playing with shapes together! These are a little but harder than the other ones I purchased, but he still enjoys them a lot!

Fun introduction to patterns
I have a kiddo who has difficulty with language and decoding. This pattern toy not only keeps him entertained, but helps him to distinguish between shapes, put the different shapes together to form a picture, and we've applied it to letters and words. Allowing him to use the same parts over and over to create different pictures in this very tactile and artistic way helps him with his language building and skills, too.

Educational and Fun
I'm homeschooling my daughter through preschool and kindergarten and these are a regular part of our curriculum. I bought the Melissa and Doug blocks and once she was bored with the patterns that came with that set, she moved up to these. Very glad I purchased. These start at intermediate patterns and work up to pretty advanced. Good for problem solving and fine motor. My daughter is 3 and is still trying to get the hang of the first level cards, but I love that she can continue to use these for a while.
