Just got this HP Omen 800 headset today...so far, so good!
This headset just arrived today from amazon seller VIPOUTLET and so far, I really like it! Seems quite sturdy & well-made. I recently purchased an HP Omen 15-dc0030nr laptop, in addition to an Omen Reactor mouse, but the headphones I've been using are a 20+ year old Pioneer SE5000 that don't have a mic & has a tiny detectable static in the left ear which I didn't notice while listening to music, but did when using them with my OMEN laptop. I'm not into gaming-I've only dabbled a little in Fortnite Battle Royale just for kicks to try out the free Fortnite bundle that came with my laptop (I totally suck at Fortnite...I've made it to 2nd place a few times, but have never won). When I was looking for new earpads for my 20+ year old Pioneer SE5000 headphones, I saw the HP OMEN 800 headset and decided to take a chance on "refurbished" via VIPOUTLET because I had bought from them before (I did a separate seller review). I still got the new earpads for my Pioneer headphones, but wanted to also give this HP OMEN 800 set a try, especially because of the lower open-box price. I agree with other reviewers that the "cans" are a bit larger than I'm accustomed, but the earpads fit around my ears well without pressing down on my ears. The sound is pretty good, so is the mic. I'm still getting used to the "noise canceling" aspect-when I've spoken through the mic, it's almost like talking with my ears plugged, so my voice sounds different to my ears. I'll get used to it eventually. P.S. in the attached photo there's a keyboard protector skin on my Omen, which is why the keys aren't quite black (imComor Keyboard Cover Ultra Thin Clear Protective Skin found here on Amazon).

Gaming on a PC? Buy these, you can't go wrong.
Wow, these are some awesome headphones. I bought these expressly for gaming on my PC. Specifically Elite Dangerous and I can honestly say they sound really great. They feel really well built and the muffs are huge. I'm a big guy and they feel big on me. The steel support band does ring when you tap it but it doesn't make any difference to the sound quality. They don't light up which for me is a plus, they just sound really good. The build quality is extremely robust. I don't see anything breaking with these phones. The microphone is a little noisy. If the mic/[preamp is leveled for normal speech at -6db in Audacity the noise floor comprising mainly of hiss is peaking at about -48db. It's fine for Skype or gaming but you would never want to record with it. However this is not what these cans are for. They are for roaring through the galaxy flying spaceships and blowing stuff up, and for that they are excellent. Don't spend any more money on a pair of gaming headphones. They are not going to sound any better than these, I bought these myself for my gaming and I unreservedly recommend them. P.s. I fly a fully tricked out Vulture in ED. It's engine note has a real low growl and in these cans that growl can be felt!

Great headest, but small flaws
I mainly purchased this headset because i hate the headsets that smash your ears in. these are SUPER COMFORTABLE, especially for wearing them long periods of time. the trouble i consistently have with these is the control box makes this something i probably wont buy again. the "mute" button is really just a heavy dampener and people can STILL HEAR ME but it just sounds like i'm really far away. beyond that sliding the button up and down sometimes cuts out one side or the other for audio, then i'm messing with the button trying to get the wires to connect proper. i've owned the product for less than a year, and have had these problems for about 6 months.

Was reluctant...
When I originally saw this product for a cheaper price, I was a bit reluctant. It was described as used, which at first was a bit "eehh" for me, but upon further inspection it just said box has been opened. I do not know why these are priced lower than the others, but it all came with original packaging and it was the real product. Smelled new. Box was in good condition, but I didn't really care about the packaging as long as the product was in good condition. The product works great. It picks up my voice well, and this is my first higher end headset that I have gotten and I heard sounds that I never before heard in games. It was so surprising to me, that I was distracted a lot in my game just listening to these additional sounds that I didn't know were there. Not only does it sound amazing for games, where it just really gets you into the whole atmosphere, it also sounds incredible if you use it to listen to music. The headset itself can get very loud, even if your TV volume is down and your mic sensitivity is low, you will have to adjust the sound settings in various games to stop from echoing. You can just continue to change it on your TV and your primary menu, but you will be adjusting it every time you switch games, so I just recommend just setting it up in individual games so that you don't have to keep messing around. One thing that is odd, is even when you are muted, you occasionally echo other people you are grouped up with, or sometimes your mic will echo a single sound that is in the game. This is a bit odd, but it is only occasionally. This may not be the case for every person who has this, it may just be an odd fluke with mine. The headset is heavy, has actual metal on it, the part that goes over your ears is very soft, and comfortable. I saw people complain that the headset is large, but I would disagree. I am under 5' tall and a woman, so I don't have a particularly large skull, and it fits me decently. I can admit it is slightly large, but it does not slide off of me the same way other headsets I have had in the past do. It fits well on other people, I have had people I know try it on to see how comfortable it is and what they thought about the sound quality and the overall comfort, and they all agreed with me that it sounds amazing, and that it is very comfortable. It does fit people with larger heads, but I can't really say if it will fit you if you have a very big head. The only real negative I have to say is the super long cord, however this headset is meant for PC players, so it is intended to have a long cord. I use this on an XB1, I sometimes trip on the cord. Thankfully this headset is not fragile, otherwise I would probably have broken it. I also have sat on it, it didn't break, but it hurts to sit on. The other negative is just a small thing that I mentioned above, with the having to adjust the settings to prevent echoing and the weird issue when muting. Before this headset all I have had is turtle beaches, and even the one I bought at the cost of this headsets full price, it broke within 2 months. I have had this one for a while and I don't think I ever will buy Turtle Beach again. This headset exceeded my expectations, AND it hasn't broken so why would I? In short, here are the Pros: Comfortable, durable, can fit a variety of people, amazing sound quality, can get very loud. Cons: Very long cord if using for console, very sensitive and you must take time to adjust settings for individual games, sometimes picks up in game sounds and other people you are partied up with when muted but not often.

Very surprised :) One of the best you can buy for the money
To start I have purchased and used many different gaming headsets over the years since the Xbox 360 was released. I currently own 7 headsets with the addition of the HP Omen 800. I stumbled onto this headset by accident. Before this, I had not heard of the HP omen line. The price point got my attention but I was a bit skeptical given that HP does not have much experience in Gaming Headsets. Fortunately, I was pleasantly surprised. I am not sure if HP either copied or had some sort of collaboration with Razer in creating this headset but the similarities between the HP Omen 800 and the Razer Kraken/Thresher are undeniable with a little Hyper X Cloud Revolver mixed in (metal adjustable headband). That aside what is important is the price comfort and sound and in my opinion HP delivered on all 3. Sound: This headset is tuned for lows/bass for sure. Bass is heavy and booming and because of that, the highs and vocals are less noticeable BUT it still gives you bass with clear enough mids and highs without being muddy, If you like, bass that rumbles and makes explosions come alive then this is the headset for you. If you like, something more neutral or something that favors the highs then this headset is not for you. One more plus that caught me off guard is that the mic is so clear and even gives your voice a bit of weight and bass and does not sound tinny like other gaming headset mics. Also the inline remote is great and accurate and this headset includes an adaptor so you can use it on your console controller which is nice. Comfort: Incredibly comfortable. I have big ears that stick out a bit and a medium/large head and this headset fits great with just the right amount of clamping force. The self-adjusting headband is also a lot better than say for example the cloud revolver, The revolver felt very loose, The Omen 800 is just right and with the large ear pads your ears will have plenty of room and won’t touch the drivers. One thing to consider is that this headset is huge; the ear cups stick out a lot and the metal headband can make you look goofy. Also the metal part of the head band resonates any tap on the headband like a tuning fork, the tuning fork effect is not as bad as the cloud revolver but it’s still there, so this won’t be a headset you would want to out on a trip or a workout. One good thing is that the microphone is retractable so it can be out of the way when you are not using it. Price: Amazing especially here on amazon. You will get your money’s worth for sure.

Decent headset
Decent headset, no where near the best, but for the price, not to bad. The cable could (in my opinion) be longer, the mic so so, the sound quality is pretty good. Bottom line, if you can spend more on something better, do it! If not, you won't be disappointed at this price point.

If You Want This Headset, Read This. (My Take On The Omen Headset)
This is a great gaming headset. I have the Astro-50’s for console but this Omen Headset is best use for pc since this is mainly use for pc. You can use in other devices but pc is the best to use it for. The sound is almost noise-canceling (almost) but it has a great quality for gaming and when you need to play at a high level, this one is pretty good. It’s also good with music. This is a balance headphone which is good for gaming and also good with music. As you can see from the photos and video, You can adjust the mic depending which is good for your play style. Once you put on the headset, it automatically adjust it for you which is easy and quick since you don’t have to adjust it so many times since it already does for you when you put it on. There’s also a button for to turn on/off voice button and a volume adjuster which is also good for this headphone. One problem I have (in my opinion) is how long the wire is. It’s long that I have to put it to the side of my chair while gaming. Other than that, if you’re looking for this kind of headset that is good for gaming and music and is almost noise-canceling, this is the perfect gaming headset for you.

Most comfortable headset - UNTIL IT BREAKS
UPDATE: Well I DID like this headset, until the volume control starting distorting my audio. No big deal, one year warranty, right? Absolutely wrong. HP's website to try and make a warranty claim is a nightmare, and their customer service is even worse. This product does not have a serial number ANYWHERE on it, but both online and through the phone the customer service representatives will not help you without one. I'm told that the serial number comes ON A STICKER. A damned sticker, supposedly on the bars on top of the headset. Besides the borderline criminal irresponsibility of putting a unique product identifier required for a legally-entitled warranty on a weak sticker, I am certain my product never came with such a sticker. Their customer service people have been unbelievably useless, it's an Indian call center that throws you around from person to person repeating the same "I'm sorry sir but without your serial number we cannot help you". Amazon Order information is useless to them, they don't care about your invoice, only the sticker that supposedly comes on a headset. To even get the phone number to call HP support I had to enter a dummy serial number just so it would let me click the "get phone number" button. It honestly feels like a scam to keep people from redeeming their warranty when their product inevitably breaks, serial number on a sticker. . . No way in hell am I ever buying something from HP again. Not a headset, not a computer, not a printer, not even ink and I'm going to do my damn best to make sure no one else does either; a warranty shouldn't be this difficult when a product breaks due to a manufacturer defect. I'm in awe of the way HP is handling this. Oh, and the mic quality is irredeemably bad. You'll be about half the volume you should be at and there's nothing you can do to change it. It's just a really, really bad microphone. Previous: The padding over the ears is incredibly comfortable, even for a glasses wearer like myself. The sound quality is a notable improvement over my cheap $20 headset, and most importantly for me the cord is extremely durable and NOT excessively long, like some other headset. It also has better than expected sound cancelling qualities. I am impressed all around with this headset, definitely worth the money.

Beyond Perfect for Gamers, Even More Perfect if you Love Omen
This headset tho. Out of the box, they’re huge and impressive-looking. They don’t mess around in terms of build quality and appearance. They just look intense. I don’t see anybody else using these but a gamer who wants the most immersive experience possible. The virtual surround experience with these has me feeling like I’m actually in the environment of the game I’m playing. I sometimes get confused between in-game sounds and reality, wondering where a certain sound came from but then realizing it’s from the game. The bass is cinematic in that it doesn’t sound artificial, it just sounds deep and appropriate to whatever is going on. You will feel the deep rumble of thunder, but your headphones won’t buzz and distort from trying to produce too much boom. They are EQ’d well. The retractable mic is just too cool, and the quality of the microphone is extremely impressive, but you have to allow a generous amount of space to avoid puffing sounds and mic distortion. Don’t use mic boost but you might wanna be able to hear your own voice live, because with the headphones being so large they do cover your ears (or at least mine) entirely so you can’t hear what you’re trying to say, so for me that’s awkward especially if I can also hear the game, so I made it so I can hear myself talking as well and that made it feel more natural, and immersive. Overall you forget that you’re wearing these honestly. They make you have to realize that there is a world around you as well. They want to be worn for a long time. The padding is thick and feels so comfy and cushiony against your head. Don’t listen to people saying they create airpockets from not being adjustable. They’re sealed when you wear them properly. These make my Beats Studio 2.0s feel pointless, because the cups on those are heavy, the padding is thinly coated, and there’s no headband comfort except a tiny thin rubber layer, and the heavy cups means it pulls down and it puts pressure on your head. I’m annoyed of them within an hour of use. These headphones are light even though they’re huge, they’re comfy even though they’re big, they sound better than Beats’ tinny treble and artificial-sounding bass, and cost a third of the price. Beats are more for casual listening, but Beats Studio Pros are supposed to be for longer-use applications. You know, like studio editing... but they don’t withstand that, which is why I’m comparing them to these Omen cans. My Omens are wired so I never have to worry about them dying and they’re always connected leaving me confident about my Sound options in Windows. Beats always need to be reconnected and repaired and it’s exhausting having to set everything Up every time. But back to gaming, if you have an Omen setup and are looking to maximize with Omen accessories I promise you these are no gimmick and they will beyond impress you.

Recomendo!

Good headphones!
I wanted to get the whole "omen" set for my PC, so I had to get these headphones, and I am glad I did! They are comfortable, and they work perfectly well! The only issue is that noise cancelling, I would watch videos on YouTube and my friends that I am in the voice chat with could hear me watch the videos. Other then that, it works great!
