Red Hot Chili Peppers - Off the Map

The RHCP are those pesky funky monks that don't know when to quit, they're still around after all these years and good on them for sticking around when so many other bands would've packed up and faded away after all these years. Off The Map: The Concert DVD is actually one of the best concerts I have managed to buy. This concert was the final one in their popular 'Californication' tour. The DVD is great quality and goes for 2 hours. It can be viewed on DVD, DVD-ROM and Playstation compatible.The DVD has also pre-show backstage footage as well as interviews with separate band members but what sells the DVD is actually the concert. 18 songs are included within the concert footage with many of the Californication album hits as well as some oldies from past albums. The funky monks are aging like fine wine and the result is better music delivery. There is also a section of additional live footage from the studio of Parallel Universe, I could have Lied, Search and Destroy.A must get and see for any funky monks fan.

Music? meh

The bottom line on this video is that if you love the Chili Peppers, you will love this DVD. The sound is stellar, the video footage is great, and the playlist is brilliant. The extras are a pleasant addition, especially their cover of Search and Destroy. My friends and I have put alot of mileage on this DVD, and all of us own it. This is one I will be showing my kids.On a side note, whoever said John Frusciante is not a good guitarist obviously is not a guitar player (or at least not a good one). You ask any decent musician, and they will tell you that he is a great guitarist. One of the most creative rock guitarists out there, and my personal favorite.

Off The Map is exactly what I thought it would be...a concert dvd of the chili's doing a pretty standard set of the world tour. However, despite claiming it was filmed on one evening, it's clearly not the case, and therefore the tracks on this are all good versions of the songs. The chili's raw energy make this dvd worth every cent, however there is nothing new or different on it. The interviews are alright but the behind the scenes is excellent for any hard core chili fan. I also highly recommend getting the dvd, not the video, because the extra footage and songs is just as good as the concert itself. Overall a pretty standard release, nothing fresh on it, however considering nobody ever said there would be, than this is a top notch show.

My review is a re-write of someone else's as they have put it perfectly, *DO NOT BUY THIS IF YOU LIVE IN THE U.S., IT WILL NOT PLAY!!! If you dont live in regions 2/3/4/6 i.e. outside of the U.S. you have wasted your money. Amazon should list this very important information in the Product Details. This is twice they have gotten me. 1 star because I cant watch the damn thing!!!"What a shame. I still have no idea what this DVD is like. For the second time I ordered it and received a DVD that only works in regions 3/4/6. Amazon clearly lists the region code as being Region 1 for this DVD and I clearly live in Pennsylvania not Zimbabwe. Why would an American company send an American consumer a product that only works in Mongolia not once BUT TWICE?????????? You got me. Anyway I am sending it back for a refund a second time. I honestly am starting to doubt this DVD even exists in Region 1 format. Amazon can prove me wrong by sending it to me in Region 1 format if they bother reading the reviews their customers post. Until then it gets 1 star. "1" as in the region code it is SUPPOSED TO BE in order to work in my Blu-Ray player!"

Finally an awsome DVD was made, instead of reused crap put together! A great band, and a great concert put onto DVD. It really captures the Chili Peppers' concert feeling. With Anthony's screaming lyrics, John's mesmorizing guitar solos, Flea's famous slap bass licks and Chad Smith's kick 'butt' drum beat. There is much more to the Red Hot Chili Peppers than just the recorded albums, they're awsome talent of improving, jamming and soloing straight from there souls is showcased on this DVD. There are more songs included on the DVD than what is listed here, they're under "Extras", there are also a cool interview with the band and really cool footage of the pre-show. If you're a Chili Peppers fan than this is deffinitly well worth the money!

i thought this dvd was awesome, with a couple flaws. the set is very good, everything desired with all their classics and a lot of great, less popular songs. amazing improvising mixed in with the sheer talent of this band makes the entire set an awe-inspiring musical hurricane. the only two major problems i saw with it were:people have mentioned this before, the centering of flea and anthony. sure, i love them, and flea is amazing, but so are john and chad. chad and john do great fills and licks that do not get shown on camera, which sometimes gets frustrating. not the biggest deal in the world, but slightly annoyingsecondly, i'm not sure if anyone else has noticed this, but the dvd is a mix of multiple concerts! notice how anthony's mohawk is drooped over one second and then standing upright the next? or how john's guitar changes from his strat to his telecaster during bloodsugarsexmagik? it doesn't affect the songs themselves, but it just makes it feel less genuine and real.over all though, this dvd is great. i watch it all the time, it's a great song to play or sing along to. buy this dvd if you like the chili peppers...pretty much simple as that.

Watching, as well as listening to The Chili Peppers on this DVD was and is fantastic! I never viewed them live before, and the exciting band ls well worth buying. Anybody who has loved hearing The Chili Peppers will love this DVD. I guarantee it!
