Very Breathable
I researched a lot of different runners and physically tried so many brands. I was looking for breathability, grip, light weight trail runner (in this order) to be used for long walks in hot climates. An average of 20-25kms daily walking in varied terrains in warm/hot climates. I definitely didnt want gortex waterproof as I find these very hot after a short period of time and that leads to hot spots and blisters. So these are my 3rd pair of Merrells. I have 2 pairs of Merrell Bravada 2 non gortex and now these Moab 2 non waterproof. The Bravada are lighter for maybe more even terrains and pavement/asphalt walking whereas the Moab 2 would be suitlable for rougher terrain. I love them. They have a good arch support though I wasnt looking specifically for that feature. They tick all the boxes I was looking for. No break in period necessary. I did size up half a size simply to allow for swollen feet at the end of a long hike. They have a wide toe box so sizing up may not be necessary for those that dont swell. It does amaze me that so many outdoor equipment shops carry such a limited range of non gortex footwear. I love them, highly recommend for a mid terrain hike over a long distance. If you are climbing through a lot of large rocky jagged terrain then these ma.y struggle with things like ankle support and rock protection but they can handle a lot.

Come in half sizes
I love these walking shoes. It’s the first pair that I’ve had that fitted straight away and are so comfortable on long walks. I’ve had no lost toenails or bruises like I do with other walking boots.

My feet and ankles HATE them!!! Also note they are NOT waterproof !!
I liked the look of these boots, but am very disappointed to say that the inner sole of these walking boots are very hard, lumpy, and felt really uncomfortable once I started walking on solid ground. So much so that I couldn't wait to get back to the car to take them off! My ankles, balls of feet and heels are still aching after an hour of taking them off! I've now removed the Merrell insole and have ordered some memory foam ones in the hope that this will help them feel a bit more comfortable. And as I've been outside to try them out, I cannot return them. Disappointed and do not recommend these boots.Edit : I took the manufacturers insoles out and replaced with some memory foam ones which helped the hardness of the footbed, but still not comfortable and they still hurt the back of my ankles, achilles?. ALSO found out today that these boots ARE definitely NOT waterproof! Took my socks off and my toes were soaked after walking just on wet, cut grass. They are a hopeless pair of boots!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THESE, only wish I'd bought another pair of Regatta or Karrimor's now...
