Q: What mm size are the small balls on the pull chain? I bought this valve, but I need a longer chain. I bought another chain but it was to small.

See if mfg. can sell a longer chain, add ons, or just another of the same chain and connect the rings.

Q: How long does it stay on for?. Or do you have to hold it on.

One has to pull down on the chain to open the valve, once released the water shuts off.

Q: Is this suitable for outdoor showers in marine environments? Is it resistant to pitting and rust near an ocean?

Yes,,,I use it outdoors in Florida,,,it seems high quality and although it is finished nicely soon or later it will show some corrosion,,,I put a good car polish on mine it look great.

Q: Is the valve handle adjustable to reposition, example: for a vertical pipe set up?

If the piping leading to the valve is strong, it can be used in a vertical set up.
