Can you start with two drives and then add to the array or will you have to reformat?

If you wish to expand the existing raid array you will need to delete and recreate the raid array. If you want to create a new 2 disc array that is possible to do. Note this is not a restriction on the device but how raid arrays are structured.

Is this raid able to do 10gbs? Or is its limit 450mbs?

Does this work on linux in jbod mode?

Yes it will work in JBOD mode in any OS. Be aware that the bus reset problem when swapping drives is hardware, so this is not a good enclosure if you expect to be swapping disks, you need to shutdown (at least unmount all volumes) to do any swapping of disks.

Can i use sas drives?
