The water filter works fine. But please make sure you clean clean every inch of that thing of the pump everything and make sure you clean it once a week because mold will build up in there and it'll ruin your pump I use Q-tips to clean in there and I think you should too if you have to they're smaller pieces try the toothpicks just to get the mold and mildew out and the warmer weather you really need to keep an eye on it to keep a healthy animal.

My cats love this moving water!!! However, this was the THIRD pump that I have had to purchase to keep the water fountain running. That is most upsetting. I was on the verge of looking for another moving water for the cats, but I decided to give this fountain one more try as it was evident that the cats missed it when it was not working. And, so far, all is well! The pump is running fine and the fountain is providing my two cats with fresh water all day long.It was the pump that I purchased this time. Other than that, this is a very pleasing water source for cats and probably small dogs as well. It lights "blue" at night so that it can be found easily. It is very quiet. And I find it no trouble at all to clean once or twice a month.........about 10 minutes from start to finish. The fountain is a convenient size so easily placed anywhere in the house or apartment. If the pump works, it is a purchase well bought!

These are really good little units. Work very well. I keep extras on hand to replace older ones.

The one that came with my fountain broke after 2 months. The replaement has lasted a lot longer! Make sure to clean or it will grow algae.

Don’t waste your money. We bought the fountain initially which came with the pump obviously and it stopped working over a period of time which it happens so we just bought a replacement. Now this replacement pump stopped working. This will be our 3rd one in total and not a single one has lasted more than 2 months. Highly don’t recommend!
