Very good book for an overview of business strategy. Provides some great concepts and offers plenty of diagrams that can be applied to many situations across the board. There are no straight how to books on business strategy. It is a theoretical concept. This book is great at helping you consider all the major variables that drive situations and strategies. Highly recommend it.

本書は世界的なＭＢＡの教科書的で、１９７６年から版を重ねる毎に、その時代のキーワードを書き加えてきた歴史のある本である。日本版が『戦略立案ハンドブック』とタイトルを付けたために「索引がない」との厳しいご指摘がなされたことは残念である。 しかしながら、本書を一読された方はお分かりになったことだが、４００頁強の厚さにもかかわらず、鮮明な図表も多く導入されていることから、非常に視角的にも親切で、読みやすい本に仕上がっている点を評価された方も多いことであろう。 さらに、本書は事業戦略を立案するためのテキストとも言うべき本かもしれない。一読された方はポーター＋大前研一（マッキンゼー）のような印象を受けたことであろう。これは両者の得意とする図表による解説が多いことに起因しているためである。 未読の方にとって、本書はポーター『競争の戦略』、大前研一『企業参謀』を読まれた方なら抵抗感無く読み進める本であり、ぜひ購入されて読まれることをお薦めする。 私は本書の名誉のためにも評価は「星５つ」としたい。

If you ever have a need to understand business strategy as either an executive, owner, or investor, this is it. One of the finest business books I have ever come across. Highly informative and easy to follow and understand. This will be included in the select set of books that I keep on a special section of my bookshelf. Books that will be referenced on an on-going basis for many years to come.

Great book for those who have a business background. Some of the concepts could get a bit confusing but you can always google what you don't understand to get a good understanding. My professor is using it as a base for Strategic Management class.
