I bought this whilst on offer, and I'm very pleased that I did. I'd been using cafetièrefor some time but was fed up with the mess and waste of water dealing with the coffee grounds, so when my daughter bought a coffee machine (not this one) I thought I'd do the same, and the offer clinched it for me when deciding on this one. The only feature this lacked, compared with hers was the lack of a strength control, but having read the reviews for the other, considerably more expensive, machine it seems that this control has little or no discernable effect. I'v been using the machine for a few days now so its too early to judge the durability, but first impressions are good. It makes good coffee, is very simple to fill and use, seems well made and is easier to clean than my cafetière. I have purchased some filter papers (size 4) to make it easier still. One of the things that put me off a lot of the more complex machines was difficulty cleaning, but this, as a simple machine is very straightforward. I know that I will need to descale the unit (as I would with any other machine) periodically, but that will be compensated by less often descales of the kettle instead. I reckon environment-wise, using the machine to just make the exact amount of coffee I need will use less energy than boiling a kettle and less water because of this and no prolonged rinsing to get rid of grounds from the cafetière. Paper filters and the grounds can be composted, rather than washing them down the sink. I can't speak about how well the hotplate works as thus far I've only used it to make a single mug of coffee, so I haven't left it standing. I guess if I used the timer function to make a brew at a predetermined time it would be a benefit, but frankly the time it takes to brew a large mug-full is short enough that I can make it on demand whenever I get up and I don't have the coffee sitting out all night, so I don't think I'll use the timer, but I can see that it may be useful in some circumstances like for a dinner-party (remember those?) to be able to serve coffee quickly after the meal. Overall then, a useful addition to my kitchen. I will probably update this review in 6 months or so, to give a longer-term review of living with the machine. I usually make 3 large mugs of coffee a day.

Just the job nice and simple to use

EDIT: DECEMBER 1ST 2021- I'M going to keep my original review here below fyi as that was the case then BUT I'm VERY happy to say that recently Yabano got in touch repeatedly, and apologetically, and have BRILLIANTLY resolved my issue! They sent me a jug (they did offer to send me a whole new machine but waste not, want not eh?!!!) COMPLETELY FREE OF CHARGE and I'm over the moon to now be using this excellent coffee machine again!!! THANK YOU YABANO!!!!! Great example of turning a negative experience into a very positive one! Would thoroughly recommend now!!! :) ORIGINAL REVIEW:Ok, so credit where credit's due, this is a perfectly good coffee maker. It's very easy to get working, and the timer function was great where I could prep the machine the night before and wake up to hot coffee when I was on early shifts. So that's all good, BUT, I really stress this point, with ORDINARY usage and cleaning, the jug cracked after 4 weeks. :( After having received great service from Amazon directly, I thought I'd email Yabano's customer service email address, included in their "Warranty," card with the purchase. I explained my situation, stressed (honestly!) I had only used the machine as recommended, AND cleaned carefully, so it should be within warranty (I also attached my Amazon purchase receipt) and asked if there was a chance to have a jug replacement. I also praised them for their great value machine, hoping to put them in a good mood when responding to my request(!!!) I've heard NOTHING back. No acknowledgement of my email being received (which can be an auto-responder, so no excuse there) and certainly no solution offered. It's such a shame as the machine is good, and great value. SO friends, by all means buy this product (it IS a good machine!) BUT treat the jug with extreme "kid gloves," as if it breaks, you've got no hope of getting a replacement :(. PS I was also happy to pay for a replacement if required, but they don't sell those separately, and of course I'm still waiting for a reply.......

Broke after 4 months. Contacted seller by email, as of yet no reply. Very disappointing. A little update, manufacture of yabano has been in touch and are replacing item. Thankyou. Just to let you all know, reading other reviews I have discovered that this is a rare thing to happen with this product. I absolutely love this machine, it arrived well packaged, it is quick and easy cleaned, makes a gorgeous cup of coffee ☕. 5 stars Yabano.
