Zippo Mag Strike

I've been looking for a better quality fire striker for our BOB's. This is it. Going to buy a second one, one for each BOB. Price is good enough, looks and feels durable and I was throwing large amounts of sparks in no time. Two year warranty on this item is a big plus. It's a bit heavier than I like but if it will work when I need it to work I'll deal with added weight just fine.

It works better than most ferro rods I've tried. Including the striker resolves the question what do I use in the field if your knife won't spark the rod? It is also easier to hold and strike and start a fire for an older person if his matches get wet. Lightweight, simple design and it works! if I don't lose it, the value for a season is worth $15. I can't speak to the durability but I've an extra rod and striker as a back-up now. Two scrapes gave sparks to light waxed cotton ball into flames. Plenty to start dry leaves/tinder for a bigger fire. Use paracord through both loops of the striker and rod. if you lose one, it's a cold dark night with out a fire. It is a great combo together. I have a couple B.O. bags and just might add Zippo Mag Strikes.

Its exactly what you think it is and a perfect tool for Basecamp. I wish I could reply to other reviews on here that complain about "stiffness". Mine works just fine. Slides out with little to no effort but stays in place. To the ones that say its "heavy", probably weighs the same a cell phone with an otterbox. Definitely less than a water bottle. To the ones complaining that only the top of the striker is angled... thats now how you use it. You angle it 45 degrees and press. If you've ever used a magnesium stick, it's the same thing only you dont need to shave it and use your knife. Only thing I'd add is a bit of paracord to keep both ends together in the rare chance you misplace it at camp.

I expected a great striker coming from Zippo but this one was beyond my expectations! It is made very well and it's easy to use! After getting the coating worn off a little it throws an amazing amount of sparks. It is very compact so it can be carried in a bag or small case and takes up little room. It's not a huge ferro rod so if that's what you're looking for, you might want to get something else. I highly recommend this striker though.

Pretty easy to use nice size

I didn’t need this, but it actually works great! And hey, you never know when the zombies are coming and you’ll need it in a pinch!

It's the best fire starter I have ever used. The second this arrived, I tried it out, and it was throwing big sparks. I would suggest having a good fire base and rubbing off the black paint on the rod. I would highly suggest it to any Boy Scout.

Good emergency fire starter. I prefer using my knife over the built in striker but it works well. Solid bit of kit to have in your camping or survival gear.

Al realizar la compra estaba algo escéptico por el tamaño de la piedra pero cuando llega y lo vez te das cuenta que si es más grande de lo que parece en fotos, es de construcción sólida y puede resistir caídas de gran altura. Otro punto a favor es el hecho de que no necesita mucho esfuerzo para generar chispa, es una piedra de muy buena calidad, por el precio vale cada centavo.

Keep it handy because once society is overtaken by zombies then fire will be your best defense :) world govts are trying to weaponize stupid morons and they are majority. So prepare accordingly :)
