Awesome product!
Saw a video on line for the perfection planetary pegs. Which got my attention about how easy it is to tune. Really, these Knilling pegs are the best. Probably, the worst player ever to start out on a cello, but I can confidently report any difficulty with tuning has been removed. And a cello sounds so wonderful when it’s in tune. Modified my electric cello too, so I can practice in peace. Thank you for a great product!

They just work
I put these on a cheap electric cello because the pegs would slip and I hated re-tuning all the time. (I bought the cello so I could have something to practice on in the middle of the night and not wake everyone up.)I have some background in minor instrument repair, so I took it upon myself to install them instead of have an official shop do it. It is a somewhat involved process, but not actually that bad. (If the pegs don't fit the holes perfectly, and if you lack a peg-hole reamer--which, I assume you also lack--just wrap some sandpaper around the peg you are replacing and twist it inside the hole. Also, use the polyurethane glue it asks you to use on the threads sparingly. It expands as it cures and will flow out the sides of the peg hole.)They work really well. They hold tune and are effortless to move. Bye-bye tailpiece tuners.I just ordered another set for my main cello.

WARNING! peg holes come in different sizes
I bought these with an incorrect assumption that it is a one size fits all. NOT SO! I have an older cello that I have owned since new. these pegs are manufactured in sizes 12 mm to 15 mm. The peg holes on mine run from 12 mm to 13.1 mm and I should have ordered 14 mm to cover the range. you will need to remove your pegs and use an inside caliper to measure size of the hole at it's inlet. If it is 12 mm or less then this is a very good price. if larger than 12mm you need to purchase where you have a choice in sizes

These pegs work
For a long time I struggled with slipping pegs and cello tuners to get a decent tune on my cello. In desperation I ordered and installed the Knilling Planetary Pegs. What a difference!!! Now my cello is tuned to perfection. The installation is not difficult but it requires some manual dexterity and tools. In my case a small drill to cut the pegs to size, a cello reamer to enlarge the holes at the head ( I got mine from Amazon)and some glue and fine sandpaper. I strongly recommend These pegs.

Absolute garbage, avoid!
I wish we had paid attention to the other one star review earlier. We experienced the same difficulty. Installation requires permanent modifications to the instrument and the tuners felt cheap with lots of gear slop on the inside. Straight out of the package the tuners were jumping back and forth and all four of them had varying degrees of slop. Not being familiar with the product we went ahead with the installation but none of the tuners hold tension, not even briefly, before going flat. You can watch them slip backwards without even playing the cello. They look like a nice product but are completely junk on the inside. Now the old tuners don't fit and we're in a world of hurt. I can't believe how expensive these are for such a garbage product.

These are great!
As a beginner, I was finding it difficult to tune the cello accurately. The fine tuners on the tail piece were not very helpful. I read about these tuning pegs with the built-in fine tuners, so I ordered a set and had them installed at the local Sam Ash store. They work "perfectly"! I don't have to use the fine tuners on the tail piece at all. Even changing strings is a lot easier with the Perfection Planetary pegs. I recommend them very highly.

Beautiful workmanship and design. Works remarkably well.
These are so much better than traditional 1:1 friction pegs! They have a feature similar to friction pegs, in that you can push in while you turn, to increase friction. It works, but in my opinion, an improvement would be a small micro-friction adjust knob or screw on the end of each peg that could 'tune' each peg to the stress of the string it works with.Workmanship is flawless, the design is very ingenious and functional, but in my mind could be improved.

Easy to install, super easy to tune, significantly enhanced the instrument's tone by removing the fine tuners
We're sold!!! Perfection pegs make tuning my son's cello so simple it is amazing! We removed the fine tuners and that made a significant improvement in the cello's overall tone quality. As a first year (actually only a couple months now) cellist he can tune his cello as fast as I can tune my guitar and his cello stays in tune for days and days. My only issue was needing to buy a peg reamer to enlarge the holes slightly to get them inserted all the way. They recommend having installed by a luthier, but there was a two month backlog in our town. Honestly, the job was easy once I had the correct tool. Just take your time and shave just a little at a time to ensure the holes don't get too big. I will be doing it again for my son's violin!
